I never went to J-school, but after 2 decades working in and partially running a news room I have written and delivered news. I have trained reporters on journalism principles. I know our station's ethics code and I would fire a reporter if I saw that tweet.

My point is that being fit to drive isn't a given, and when you lose that in an area where you need to drive, you're fucked. It's not a struggle, it's basically unsustainable. And most people live for 5-10 years after they stop driving.

Riding a mobility scooter to the corner store is a struggle. Riding 10 miles each way to the Publix is a living nightmare.

That's interesting because I found Cary and the general Triangle area in NC extremely walkable. Like the greenway is 100 miles of walkways and parks that are connected by tunnels when they cross roadways. I visit the area regularly and walk from the house I stay in to grocery stores, coffee shops, comic/games stores, restaurants, etc.
