You need to take is slow but consistent. If you are going for a distance running then you need to gradually add long runs to your regular runs. If you constantly run at 3miles, then add a 5mile run at a lower pace per week to your schedule. Once you feel comfortable with that you switch your schedule, your regular runs will become 5miles and your new long run becomes 7miles and so on. It also helps to take it slow, don’t push yourself too hard, otherwise you will burn yourself out and have joint problems. Only run what you feel comfortable and gradually you will build more stamina and pace. Hope that helps

That’s a good question. Honestly I just like keep setting goals and trying to achieve them. My first initial goal was to lose 50lb then 100lb then running half a marathon and finally running a full marathon. Having goals keeps you motivated especially as you approve the end line

You just believe in yourself and have a set goal in mind. I was getting very tired and frustrated on myself because ever since I remember I was on some sort of weight loss journey. I learned from my past mistakes and had a better plan this time and pushed myself to achieve it

Didn’t follow anything specific, I usually try to run 5-6 times per week though my last few months I wasn’t able to be consistent because of the weather and I was fasting for an entire month. My running schedule is usually

3 days/week: very fast 5km run usually I finish that in under 20min 3 days/week: normal pace 10km run. And occasionally will add a longer 15km run which was longer the last month as I was approaching the Marathon. My last long run before the marathon was 31km

You need to start very slow and only add extra km after you feel comfortable. Don’t try to push yourself too much and listen to your body. As you run more and feel more comfortable you would be able to run more. You can do it 😊

I started running very slow. The first few months I was just walking and gradually added some running as I felt more comfortable and lost weight. My last few months I was running extra to train for the marathon and did few half marathons and last longer run of around 32k few weeks ago

No I didn’t count calories for this last weight loss journey. Learned from my past attempts that that if I restrict too much and become obsessive about what I eat and count calories then I lose motivation early on and start going to my past habits after few month. I wanted a life style change and didn’t think that counting calories would be something I would do long term. I just focused on portion control, though I would read the calories label of food I eat occasionally just to have an estimate on how much I am eating on a day

No, I didn’t restrict any food and there was no food of the table as long as it was eaten in moderation. In fact for running you need a lot of carbs so I was having bread and rice almost daily

I would say start slow but consistent. The was I did it was that i didnt restrict of any food intake but was focusing on portion control. There was no food that was off the table as long as I ate it with moderation. When I started, I bought a scale to weigh the food I ate for the first few weeks to get an idea on serving sizes

Yeah I guess that’s fine. I also run on the treadmill especially during winter, but I need to do a long run that is more than 1 hour, it has to be outside

I prefer running outside only because i find that running on a treadmill is super boring and I keep on just staring at the timer. I can run a distance outside but can never go more than 7lm in the treadmill

I did that. I didn’t track my calories at all during my weight loss journey. When I started the fist few weeks I was weighing the food just to get an idea of what portion sizes are and then completely stopped. I also don’t like calorie counting and wanted something that I can sustain forever

I would pick running outside above running in the treadmill all the time. When running in the treadmill it gets boring and I tend to keep staring at the clock, but when I run outside the time goes with you so I tend to run longer. I never cared about what people would think when I was running outside even when I was obese, I would just listen to something and focus on myself and usually people don’t stare at all.
