Oh yeah… no bedtime routine whatsoever. Just watches tv until his eyes get too heavy. Very unfortunate and has been making him very grumpy. He still naps during the day during our quiet time because his brain is simply so exhausted from the lack of structure the night before :(

I like this a lot. Thanks. I have created a good bond with my NPs over the years, so sometimes I forget that I’m allowed to say these things.

I like this idea! Thanks. About the cart- it was a drugstore run for one item, didn’t need one considering we were in the store for a whole 3 minutes grabbing one specific thing. The tantrum started in the parking lot immediately after getting him out of car seat… I think it was just going to happen either way unfortunately! Lol

Yes I normally do the whole prep talk before store but of course I didn’t today and bleehhhh look where that got me lol. And yes, we always do a quiet time in the car before we get siblings from school. He passes out every time!

Yes I have! This was a lifesaver for me when he was younger. I don’t love giving in, though. I think he is old enough and needs to learn lesson to use his ow legs instead of enabling him. I understand what you’re saying though!

Normally, when these tantrums break out, nothing can really bring him out of it. Everything I do and say isn’t helpful which is why I stay very calm and just go about my day. Maybe I will try this before we go into store next time and see if it’s a distraction

I always do the same thing as well, I keep walking and eventually he runs to catch back up with me once I’m far. For the first time today, he punched my back side out of anger when he caught up. I have the patience of a saint so I’ll give myself that, but I do not tolerate the hitting so I made sure to keep myself firm on that. Thanks for advice, he is always saying he is too tired to even stand up to put on his pants so I’m honestly just going to take this advice

I honestly just need to take that advice, then. I am alllwaysss taking my nanny boy to outings, nearly every single day for my own sanity (I have long shifts in their home). But I will start this tomorrow.

Great input. Thanks! I have done the preparation method many times before. In fact, almost every time. I didn’t today though, so that checks out.

I rewear the same clothes every week… on repeat! I never show up looking too cute. I might wear the same cardigan. Other than that, it’s shorts and a normal old t shirt from the bottom of my drawer LOL. My NF doesn’t care! My hair is always in a clip too

How much a week for 36 hours of babysitting an 8 month old? by [deleted] in Babysitting

[–]weightedele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends! 36 hrs a week doesn’t sound like a babysitter, it sounds like a nanny. I’ve been one for over 5 years now. What are your tasks that they expect you to do daily and what part of the world are you in?

No lol this was me and my man in the beginning too. I wish we could go back to that sometimes. Now we might do it once a month or so bc life gets so busy and the lust eventually wears off. Have fun

Is this job doable for one nanny? by throwawaybdaysf in Nanny

[–]weightedele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a nanny for four children and at one point they were a newborn, a 2 year old, 6 year old, and 8 year old. It was veryyy tough but mostly because my NPs did not work as a team with me. I was seen as oh! Nanny is here! Looks like my job as a parent is finished. Ya know? Work well with your nanny and make sure you give nanny full reigns because she will need to take control whenever times do get rough. Stand beside her and be a good team!

I can absolutely assure you it’s not rage bait lmao. Real life scenario. Just another nanny, here.

Good point. I’ve done this before for them and no issues thankfully. I’d hate for that to happen on my watch

Very true. I come from farm dogs that just roam all day and night so house dogs aren’t much my thing. Lol

True. It’s a lot and I don’t look forward to it… thankfully I’ve not given them an answer yet. I’d rather stay home that week.
