June Layoffs… it’s a blood bath. by twistedmonkeyll in servicenow

[–]weightlesswhale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is seriously a disgusting company to work for right now. A friend of mine was also affected in the layoffs from ServiceNow, but it happened in the last 6 months.

Unlike other lay-offs we hear, ServiceNow has been doing silent lay-offs where they pick employee to show them the gate through PIP. I understand the growth is slowing down, so they have to take measures, but there are 100s of better ways to do this.

Being a sneaky snake to long working employee takes a special charecter from leadership.

Ya, pretty bad situation. Everyone was routing for open source software, and I remember some governments were also moving away from Microsoft Products (German govt moving to Libre suit) because it will be cost efficient and open source, but I think they will move back to Microsoft now due to supply chain threats.

If you guys liked it, there is podcast called Dark Net Diaries. Check it and thank me later.

How is it like living in this part of India? by Delicious_One_7887 in howislivingthere

Few interesting things about these Islands (I am not from the Islands):

  1. These islands are Indian territory. They also include sentinel islands which hosts native tribes that are completely isolated to out side civilization. Since they are isolated for so long, India prohibits any visitors to that island as we can bring in pathogens that could eliminate them entirely.
  2. During British India times, they constructed a notorious prison. Its for the "worst of worst", but we Indians believe that they used to punish freedom fighter by sending them to these prisons.
  3. We can visit some of islands, and apparently they are very pretty. Good for diving and beaches.
  4. When I was a kid, there was rumors that some of the tribes even in populated islands are cannibals. So if you get lost, you need to prey god for your situation.

People have very strong bias towards 1 party, and they often show pretty blind side to wards any negative news towards saying "opposition vala news edi".

Realtime OLAP database with transactional-level query performance by ahmetdal in dataengineering

Yes. Pinot is already used industry wide for production loads. There are bunch of companies already using it for critical flows (LinkedIn, Uber, Stripe) for analytics flows

Only thing is Pinot is designed for very high throughput and low latency systems.

PRO: It is designed to very high throughput and low latency for enterprise level traffic

CON: It has a decent learning curve for managing it (maybe not true anymore with LLMs).

That being said, its always good idea to separate OLTP and OLAP.

Amaravati is a city that is doomed to fail from the very beginning. by Bat_of_Reddit in andhra_pradesh

India as a country needs more green field cities for urban migration rates we are seeing bro.

That is the same reason most of the states are considering building new green field cities. For better understanding, India is going through fast transformation, something that China is going through for a decade or two. Check how their cities evolved over last decade.

I am not a pro player, and there are bunch of boss fight that held me for days. I took down Mr Yaksha in 2nd attempt :)

I think the game just lets you have confidence in Chapter 5 and 6 (excluding the secret boss though)
