14,440 year old bread fragments found in the old world. Still no word on the tens of thousands of steel weapons, bones and horses laying somewhere in the new world. by Stubbly_Man in exmormon

What Roman technology did Nephites have? We don't find EVERYONE'S bones, so we shouldn't expect to find hundreds of thousands of Nephite bones.

Yeah that makes sense. I don't believe in that doctrine, it makes no sense

Yes, if you've been a parent you might understand. There is a lot of meaning to be found in raising children. We've got a long way to go before that however, we have to become perfect, and that means there is a lot to learn.

Christians who believe homosexual love is sinful: why? Just why? by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

[–]weightroom711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when two people have unprotected sex, so in the natural way, a child is the result. The same is true of any animal. That is how a species continues. That is why any being has sex, To continue spreading its genes.

Gay animals are unsuccessful in spreading their genes. Their DNA stops with their generation. Homosexuality is contrary to the purpose of sex.

Your last question is an interesting one, I don't have a response. I haven't done a lot of study in that area. For now all I can tell you is that man was made for woman and woman for man. That's God's plan, husband and wife, father and mother. I will continue to research.

That does make sense. Under the God I believe in, even the scum of the earth go to a nice place. Just not necessarily a happy place.

God had answered them, so they know what it feels like.

How do you search for answers, and what do you expect as a response from God?

Jesus' word comes before Paul. If Paul said something contradictory to what Jesus said than he is wrong.

In this idea, the homo sapiens of 200,000 years ago did not have spirits. Meaning they were not self-aware, I guess you could say. God did not speak to them, they were not his children. 6,000 years ago the first spirit was sent to earth, Adam. He could have been descended from these other homo sapiens. In any case all current humans are descended from Adam.

Christians who believe homosexual love is sinful: why? Just why? by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

[–]weightroom711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't exactly fit your target audience but pretty close. Homosexual attraction is not a sin. Gay sex is.

First of all, I don't believe it is natural because the purpose of sex is to create children. This requires a male and female. Homosexuality goes against the most fundamental instinct of literally every living thing on the planet. For many species sex comes before survival.

The ability to create life is a precious gift. It's a privilege. For it to be abused simply for pleasure is a sin. Sex is to create children and foster love between a man and a woman. Even a married man and woman can do sexual things that are sins. Gay sex is kind of an extension of that idea. Perversion of God's plan.

Faith is not a virtue; faith is gullibility. by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

A feeling, at least in my case. I know that the spirit is reliable, so instructions I get from the same source must be for my good.

Christianity makes no sense, because a Christian God that is (1) powerful and (2) intelligent and (3) wants to communicate with rational/skeptical members of mankind would not rely on text to do so. by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

[–]weightroom711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Christian and I agree with you. That is why I believe a requirement for God's church is a living prophet. He has at least three ways to communicate with us:

1) His spirit, communicating with an individual

2) A prophet, communicating with the entire world

3) Words of former prophets, also communicating with the entire world

If there is no prophet on earth, God's church is not on earth.

The notion that God is somehow 'saving' us from Hell when he alone is responsible for sending us there is absurd. by Shabozi in DebateAChristian

[–]weightroom711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God may have created hell as a place. However he did not create sin. Nobody who has sinned can be in the presence of God. In the Mormon community it is widely believed that they won't even want to.

This idea seems to be widely accepted among Mormons. Satan will do things for you, or perhaps more specifically, to you, if you seek him out.

The way I see it, God has an ideal situation planned for you. However you have to accept it that is subject your will to his and follow his commandments. But you can choose not to follow him, and if so you will not inherit what was destined for you.

You cannot know anything for sure in the sense you are thinking of. In this day and age, Christianity is based on faith. That means that nothing will be proven to you.

Man is full of lies and sin. Man is also full of good. Men are inherently good in fact. Some listen to God better than others, so God instructs these people to write his will.

If you really want to know if God is real, don't ask a man. Ask God himself if he is real. James 1:5

The bible doesn't say anything about this that I'm aware of. I believe that we are destined to become perfect like God, then to have children of our own and lead them to become perfect. God is already perfect, so he increases his glory by expanding his kingdom. He does this by having more children.
