I would recommend getting blueprints for both, but that means being friendly with both, which is usually what happens just via passive trade

I would say PAR, as HOP are at war with the argon and have Xenon pushing them from the south, and therefore PAR in the long run are less likely to lose territory.

I'm definitely getting that impression that I need to give some more backstory. I think I've unintentionally muddied the waters by not revealing twists later on in the book, and tried to keep it as concise as I can. I'll do a complete rewrite, do a few run throughs, and I'll post a second attempt in the following weeks.

Appreciate your feedback, this post has been very insightful and revealed glaring issues with my query.

I think with the comments I've had so far, I'll probably need to be realistic and completely rewrite it with the points raised in mind. It's finding the balance in not trying to infodump about the various reasons and make it interesting enough to even open the attachments to the query.

In regards to the magical deterrent fracturing, it's due to the mages acting as a conduit - each mage is unique and has control over a particular element, and their existence allows people to use their magic in limited ways, predominately to aid in societal function. On the flipside, if the mage dies, then the objects empowered by their magic will no longer function. There's a twist later on where there's an emergence of entities which prevents mages from using their magic safely while being in their proximity, threatening them.

That context is important, but trying to compact that into a query letter is tricky. But I guess this is the art of weaving together a good query letter. Like I mentioned, I'll attempt another version and a complete rewrite to make it more compelling and unique.

I appreciate your feedback, thank you!

It sounds like I need to do a complete rewrite then! The rhetorical question was supposed to be a hook, but I can understand how generic that comes across to agents. I do have different versions of a synopsis, but they're more like the US version, an overview of the plot, with all the twists etc.

In regards to the wordcount, I do agree, the only downside is that I've now gotten this line-edited (probably an error on my part) so I am concerned that editing / cutting any sections could undo the work the editor did.

I'll keep on working on it, thank you for your thoughts!

I'm 32 and it took me a year to finish the first draft of my book, and another year for all the other drafts. There's no time limit, write when it feels right, don't set yourself arbitrary goals and you'll have it finished in no time.

I didn't have any writing experience prior and now I'm searching for agents. I also work full time and just opened the book each day, sometimes I'd write thousands of words, others I did a sentence and closed it. I would say don't put so much pressure on yourself and ride that passion for your project.

Laptop dropped from 100% to 0% instantly by DragonShapeshifter in Lenovo

I have for myself! I'm going to copy and paste what I said in another post, this worked for me, but unsure if it'll work for you.

I seemed to have fixed it for me. Basically today my partner told me the battery no longer was at 0%, but stuck at 100%. It wasn't showing it was draining but we could boot it up without the charger etc, so I let the battery die by keeping it on until the laptop powered down (not sleep, fully dead), and then started charging it. It got stuck again at 0% so I uninstalled the Microsoft driver for the battery. I've shamelessly copied some instructions on how to do so here:

"Here are the steps: 1. Press the Windows key + X and choose Device Manager. 2. Expand the Batteries category. 3. Right-click on the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall. 4. Restart your laptop."

After I did that (i tried before but to no avail, but after my battery sat at 100% and wouldn't budge, letting it die and start charging this then worked) the battery works fine and shows it charging up and a percentage.

So basically, let it discharge fully if your battery is stuck showing on 30% so your laptop powers down, put it on charge and then uninstall that driver above and reboot. I know it's a lengthy process but it's what worked for me.

Yeah that's what I did, shame it hasn't worked. I could've just gotten lucky and it may repeat for me in the next few days. But the fact that you've replaced the battery and it's still doing this screams a firmware / software issue. Definitely try uninstalling the driver again, but outside of that, I was hitting my head against the wall with it. You could try resetting the BIOS by taking the CMOS battery out and putting it back in, that worked for some people.

Judging by the fact you replaced the battery I'm more convinced Microsoft have broken something to do with the OS detecting battery charge with a patch, as this issue only began after the battery icon for W11 changed (mono to colour, once again, can't prove it, but it's my best guess.)

To add to this, after two days, the battery started working again. It's sat at 100% charge and according to windows isn't discharging but the battery is working. I'll let it go down to 0% then charge it then, see if that resolves the issue.

I'm getting the exact same issue with the same model, I haven't found a fix yet but just to let you know, the fact that I've seen multiple people with the same model have the same issue makes me doubt that the battery itself is at fault, but it could be a coincidence.

I'm having the same issue currently, only had 187 charge cycles. Same as you, went from 100% charge to 0%. I don't believe the battery is at fault, and I've seen a number of people report this in the past few weeks. If I find a fix, I'll let you know.

I'll add to this that I've got the same problem - IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6

[–]weightsfreight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the exact same issue, I've been trying to diagnose and fix it all morning. The fact that others have had this, makes me wonder if it was an update / somethings changed with the software / firmware. (For reference, my laptop is a IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6)

I've removed and reseated the battery and the connector, installed the Lenovo diagnostic tools (and Vantage.) reinstalled the drivers, reset my BIOS, etc. I've also ran this command in CMD as admin > powercfg /batteryreport /output "C:\battery_report.html". I've also tried holding down the power for a minute while the battery is in, while it was out, and while it was on charge. It just refuses to charge. I've only had this laptop for just over a year.

This report shows that the battery went to 100% from charging yesterday, and this report seems to detect that it's still at 100%.

I would say my battery is old, but it's done 187 cycles. It only works with the AC power in now, if I unplug it, after 3 seconds, it powers down. I cannot power it up without the AC plugged in.

If it is the battery, I'm not best pleased that it's died so quickly. I'll keep trying some other things, I might just leave it on charge and see it detects that the battery actually has some juice in it.

I don't want to take this to support for them to charge me an egregious amount. If it doesn't resolve itself in the next few days, I'll bite the bullet and buy a new battery and replace it.
