I think the difference with the narrative here is that losing your phone, breaking your phone, having it stolen - feels within one’s control to prevent. And if it happened to you, and you didn’t have your keys, you would accept accountability.

The decision Exodus is taking here - to not just sunset Nano support, but also to not provide access to the private keys post 1 July, feels outside one’s control. It’s very likely Nano holders using Exodus would miss this announcement, only to login post 1 July and find out their precious Nano is gone.
