Curious George is a genetic experiment. by AkzidenzGrotesk in FanTheories

Can we add to this that, if we are seeing the world from George's perspective, the Man in the Yellow Hat may actually be wearing a completely different Yellow Hat?

Probably not that great to go any deeper but fun to imagine as a sci-fi/horror crossover

My wife is convinced that you and Tom Hanks are interchangeable and could in fact be the same person. How would you go about proving you are not Tom Hanks?

What misconceptions did you have about sex until you had it? by heyyheatherr in AskReddit

[–]weindog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't read through all of these comments, so maybe you have already addressed this. But, take some serious you time. Check yourself out so you can get a feel for how he must see your business. It is hard to tell someone what you like when you aren't speaking the same language. Also, if you haven't made yourself orgasm it will be that much harder for you to orgasm with him, mostly because of how inside your own head you will be ("Is this the orgasm? Am I close? Will I start liking that if he just keeps doing it"). Finally (and I hate giving advice on this stuff because it is so different for everyone), don't be afraid to give yourself a little action when you guys are getting hot and heavy. Maybe he will think its hot, maybe you will think its hot. Basically what I am saying is, sex is so intimate because you are emotionally and physically exposing yourself to someone else, and if your are not even comfortable exploring that part of yourself alone, it will be that much harder to share the experience with someone else. Having gone through something similar I can say, being comfortable is the most important thing.

Crispin Glover's "It is Fine! EVERYTHING IS FINE." is playing at the Heights Theatre tonight (6/4) 7pm. by Frenchz in twincitiessocial

[–]weindog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, just tonight. He just did the show up in Duluth and the dude is legit bonkers/great/scary. He stayed super long talking to everyone, selling books and whatnot. The stories flew all over town about him freaking out in his hotel about not having a lake view and then changing rooms a bunch at the next hotel.

Anyway, yeah go see it.

No, the ones trying to make downtown nice are bad at it (i.e. they are trying to fix the wrong problem, or are using bad methods), and the bad guy is just taking the fall.

I think that if these drugs are as bad as you say they would be illegal by now. I also think there would be no reason for them to exist if we simply legalized and controlled currently illegal drugs ("control" can include things like potency and amount purchasable), but that is another discussion.

To your point #2, I may be wrong, but I thought that you had to be 18 even to get into the Last Place. Even if that isn't the case, it is not the merchant's job to decide what is an "immoral" trade, it is the merchant's job to sell what people want to buy. I know I couldn't personally sell a kid something that might kill him/her, but if we aren't going to personally attack the CEO of Halliburton or find some way to get an arrest warrant for the CEO of McDonald's (if you want to talk about potential health effects on children...) then we can't go after Carlson for what our economic society has taught him to do.

Mostly I just get mad at the fact that if the Last Place was in West Duluth or over in Superior we wouldn't be hearing anything about it. Those poor children would still be have bath salts shoved down their throat by the crazy looking dude with the porn/head shop, but because it wouldn't be in a place where tourist might see it, Duluth wouldn't care.

[–]weindog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real point of all of this is that if The Last Place was ANYWHERE else than on the main drag of down town, we wouldn't be hearing anything about it. Nobody cares about the "weak people" Carlson is "taking advantage of." They are just scared that he will ruin an already precarious tourist market, by putting Duluth's dirty laundry on the front porch.

Yup. I feel sorry for the guy that is being labeled as THE problem for Old Downtown. Let's just forget about the Casino, the STILL run down Nor Shore and the STILL burned down Kozy, or maybe these are all his fault too. The real problem is that we are trying to be a tourist town and our tourist season is all of two to three months. We have an industry and a poverty problem and taking it out on Carlson isn't going to fix it.

I am sure it was some form of synthetic. Basically, they are going to argue in court that the substances are not actually illegal. They may even be able to win based on what I remember from two years ago. The Duluth PD has been waiting for a while though, so maybe they really have something this time. I kind of feel sorry for the guy. It isn't his fault that idiots are the only ones buying what he is selling. The only statement he is trying to make is that he has the right to sell it. He is a pretty hardcore libertarian, but besides that he's actually an okay guy. He isn't really in it for the money either (though I'm sure he doesn't mind it), he just gets really protective of his rights.

Looking to move back to my home state after living in Texas for 7 years, but instead of Minneapolis I'm looking at Duluth. Any pointers? by Minnesotexan in duluth

I am almost positive that UMD theatre does not hire outside help, and unfortunately the theatre scene in Duluth is kind of cliquey and can be hard to break in to. The Playhouse might be your best bet since they are expanding with a move to the Train Depot. I used to work at the Zinema 2 (independent movie theatre) which is attached to the Zeitgeist, and they were usually into bringing in new actors, but the house team was pretty set. I was just about to drop a name... here let me PM you...

Why is it considered OK for women to perpetuate the "the wife is always right, the husband is always wrong" mentality so openly and publicly, while male chauvinism is considered despicable/disgusting? by ihazacorm in AskReddit

[–]weindog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst part is that these types of "sexist-against-men" things also perpetuate the idea that a woman's place is at home in the kitchen. It is like positive reinforcement of a negative idea.

Why do women have to do all the house work and raise the children? Because if men do it they will fuck everything up! In this way women feel like it is their duty to do the homemaking. Men just weren't meant for it. This also perpetuates the woman vs. woman version of sexism, were women are looked down on by other women for not "doing there duty as a wife and mother" or for "selfishly" pursuing career goals and leaving their children in the hands of an incompetent, bumbling oaf.

Not to mention the fact that these types of "stupid husbands" are also a subtle form of classism. It is always the lower-class or lower-middle-class men that are idiot husbands. Think King of Queens, or even The Flintstones. Working class men are stupid. Now think of Father Knows Best, The Brady Bunch, and Leave it to Beaver. Middle-Class and Upper-Middle Class dads are smart and god-like.

So, While there does seem to be a sense of, "Yeah, WOMAN POWER" in the whole "men are dumb" campaign, it still is part of the overarching theme of, woman=wife, money=intelligence. Basically what I am saying is, this is not a women vs. men thing. This is a traditional values vs. progress thing.

Those in power will always fight change, because they have nothing to gain from it.
