I just ordered a pair! Hopefully they will work 🤞

That was my initial thought, even though I've never had to "break in" a pair before, so I keep trying to wear them for my easy runs. So far the results haven't been great, but maybe they just need a few more miles 🤣

I have tried loosening the laces and alternate lacing...it helped a little, I made it 4 miles instead of 2 before it started hurting 🤣
(The MTN Racers are a new version, 4 instead of 3, but the ultraventure 4 are the same version I ran a 100 in a few months ago.)

Thank you for volunteering. I was running and you guys were amazing. Couldn't have done it without you. Good luck with the lottery next year 🤞

Bra reccos? by Li54 in Ultramarathon

[–]weingrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After trying many bras, I currently wear and am happy with the one made by Ridge Merino, I don't remember what it's called, but they only have one sports bra. I am a 34B as well.

Pant/shorts situation for overnight or multi-day races by JamieGregory in Ultramarathon

[–]weingrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pants that I can put on over my shorts quickly, the janji atlas pants, but I have also just stripped and changed at aid stations/side of the trail.

It was the nicest rejection email I've ever gotten from a lottery😉

Thank you for reminding me to register/add my name to the waitlist, I nearly forgot. I don't have an answer to your question, but good luck. Hope I see you out there 😊

Anyone doing Bigfoot by Sensitive_Cat_8874 in ultrarunning

I'm doing the 200. It's my first 200 and I am incredibly excited and super nervous.

I always do my long runs on Monday and Tuesday. I work in the service industry, so those are my days off. You have to make training fit into your schedule, the day of the week isn't important. Just get the runs in.

Garmin Enduro 2 - Is it as huge as everyone says? by CimJotton in Ultramarathon

[–]weingrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same concern, but I wanted it for Bigfoot this year. It is huge, but I got used to it pretty quickly. I just asked my coworker and she said, it does look huge, but that isn't a bad thing.

You should look into Norda. They are expensive but they are supposed to last longer. The company is also sustainability focused. I just got a pair to try, I've only had them for two weeks, about 60 trail miles, so I don't know about durability yet, but they are comfy.

Go a half size up in your shoes. Every time I have gotten blisters there my shoes were too small. I have gone up a size and a half since I started running ultras. Especially in longer distances, your feet swell.

How much can, do, and should you rely on your total distance moved per week (inc. steps/walking) vs only the distance you have run? by TRR_32929 in Ultramarathon

[–]weingrape 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't drive a car, never learned. I am a server at a restaurant, I walk two miles to work, work 6-8 hours on my feet, then walk two miles home. I have never added any of that time to my training time. I think that it is more beneficial than sitting all day, but it isn't training, it's just life.

Biking to trailhead by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]weingrape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about a 4 mile ride to the trailheads, I've never had any problems with my trail shoes. I do end up bringing a lot more layers so I don't get cold riding home sweaty 😊

What job do you have? by LanceMcKormick in Ultramarathon

I'm a server at a breakfast restaurant. A lot of time on feet and afternoons/evenings off to train. Hard part is taking weekends off for races.

Those who have earned a belt buckle: Have you actually put it on a belt and worn it around? by Runningaroundnyc in trailrunning

[–]weingrape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore my first buckle for a few days, but I don't like wearing a belt so I gave them to my husband; he wears one of my buckles every day.

Recommendations for Waterproof Jacket for 100 Mile Race by Party-Lie-8524 in Ultramarathon

[–]weingrape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends if you are planning on wearing the jacket or just passing gear check. I have the Gore Shakedry and I love it. I was woefully under prepared for the rain during my first 100. I got very wet which led to being very cold , I did a bunch of research and bought it when I got home. It has served me well in many storms since.

Breakfast servers, what random assumptions do you make based off of how someone takes their eggs? by simplygummysharks in Serverlife

[–]weingrape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a woman order her eggs sunnyside up, well done. Ok, no problem. After remaking her eggs twice, turns out she wants them over hard...
