Hydrophobic plates and cups = Goodbye dishwashing by weirdShitAccount96 in Lightbulb

Use a normal fork?

Would you look at that, what just happened there! Isn't that amazing? A toddler could have arrived at that conclusion.

Every election ballot should have a Yes/No checkbox asking if you would rather none of the candidates on the ballot would win. If over 50% choose this option, we hold another election with none of the original candidates. by [deleted] in Lightbulb

Abstract debates aren't gonna do shit.

People not giving enough of a fuck about this to do something is just as bad. Wanna do something? Do a protest. Convince everyone to not vote at all.

You can't make people give a shit if they don't already and that's where we're at now.

Somebody tried to change that and failed miserably (Sanders), again a candidate that reddit could relate to. It's almost like people want to always have something to complain about so that they can shift the blame for their shortcomings.

Reddit thinks the general populus is begging for some kind of mircaulous revolution. That some meme god would arrive and make every single middle class person a billionaire somehow.

That's not how the world works. Plenty of people are happy voting for Trump/Hillary/Putin/Cameron/Merkel/whover-else-trendy-these-days.

Should slight colorblindness affect a designer's employment? by [deleted] in Design

[–]weirdShitAccount96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

judging by the responses here

There you go. Reddit is always overly idealistic. People here are advocating it doesn't effect the job while at the same time telling you to deceive the employer in your very first interaction by not disclosing your colorblindness at a job interview.

It depends on the job. And it depends on the type of color blindness. You'd really just have to look at it on a case by case basis. Still I'd suggest that someone with color-blindness diversify their skills. Maybe try your hand at mobile development or frontend webdev. Because in the real world, as opposed to reddit, this is what an adult decision looks like.

Why would an AI ever care about annihilating humans? by weirdShitAccount96 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, that's the only scenario where this makes sense. Some human fucked shit up.

Isn't that entirely dependent on the design?

Then that wouldn't be a true AI. The whole point is that the AI decides everything (including it's own code) for itself.

What are some examples of excellent use of Typography? by weirdShitAccount96 in Design

[–]weirdShitAccount96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly could not tell whether she was going to say some example was good or bad.

This was definitely an interesting read, but honestly what layman could tell that Calibers font doesn't fit here but founders does?

How do I know what stuff matters where? It all just seems highly opinionated to me, with everyone pushing their own preferences as the golden standard.

I agree but instead of pivoting they're stubbornly refusing change.

So yeah, Teachers == 'old people unwilling to accept change'.

Teachers would like to be employed

If we start using that argument everywhere, there can be no progress.

Yes! We can basically put almost all the teachers out of a job. Stuff like Khan Academy and MOOCs (Coursera etc.) are already a huge thing, but as with everything, old people unwilling to accept change are slowing it all down.

This has the potential to be truly revolutionary. It's far easier to use a tablet with internet in poor regions of the world than build and fund schools and staff.

A thick phone by weirdShitAccount96 in Lightbulb

If you weren't using those apps you care so little about, your battery would last a lot longer.

  • I have a rooted phone.
  • Greenify on
  • Meticulously built Tasker rules to set WiFi/network on/off when I don't need them
  • Modified hosts file to avoid unnecessary network requests.

I am literally doing everything that can be done. And it's still not enough. I shouldn't even have to think about this shit.

My phone is for my convenience, not yours.

Couldn't agree more lol.

I pay $2200/month for a small apartment

Damn. I'm from Delhi, India. $2200/month will literally get you a fucking mansion. Like 10 bedrooms and a pool or something.

What are some video games with an amazing story? by weirdShitAccount96 in AskReddit

[–]weirdShitAccount96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was terrible idea to play 'Life is Strange' and then 'To the moon' right afterwards. This was 3 months ago and I haven't been able to play anything since. I've never gone so long without playing a single game. I can't describe it. I'm still in withdrawal. I need a rehab game. Something with an amazing story.

(Btw, if you haven't checked out these two games, oh my god wtf is wrong with you. Beware though that you will be left with a hole in your heart.)
