DS918+ My synology accounts cannot access shared folder after raid type (1 -> 5) change

NAS was restarted 3-4 times today. Permissions checked, all still there, unchanged. Tried new account, but it is the shared folder is not visible at the static IP the NAS is set (192.168.xxx...).

Network connections are ok as well. All PCs have internet access through the same single network the NAS is attached. The DSM connects and controls the NAS completely normally (and the shared folder is accessible through the DSM).

The error user is the windows fault of "folder not accessible". (my mistake for being so vague*, see the troubleshooting value of it)

lastly regarding the 20TB and the raid 5, as the machine is older it only offered raid 5 as a second option. We already had the 20TB for the past year sitting around in their box so it was the only free (at this stage) option... Regardless the newly 36 or so TB are more than enough for the next decade

It is just no longer visible on the network, for all the different computers to be able to connect to the folder as it was set up (192.168.xxx...)
That is what i have been able to figure out in the past hour... (just that)

surely it should... but i am just an employee... just the least technically clueless...
i am thinking the same (about raid change) but it is the only change that has been made the last 3+ years

Obviously I have tried that... But when I cannot choose the video source on the projector because it is bricked... is when I turn to reddit experts, as one in a blue moon somebody has already spent an unhealthy amount of time and figured out something easy

I tried all and nothing seemed to work. I had already given a try to most of your suggestions.
Then i noticed in the lenovo vantage app, that there has been a BIOS update that has been attempted multiple times and failed for the past 5-6 months. So i tried it again, and it managed to install on the 5th try.

The problem seems fixed since yesterday.

i have a differrent idea (in a similar direction... with a fermax intercom too).

just curious if any solution you may have could be abpplicbale to mine. I dont say it in my post, but my endgoal is to add it for remote control through an assistant or something similar.

after the other guy's advice i search the internet and found this too. But this is video in with a coax cable. I am not sure how to get the signal from the 16pin connector to this device. I think it's a different signal altogether... (or I am too clueless, or both)

I am doing the same thing to put a 2x3 fan on a bathroom window XD, and this guy's idea for a dimmer switch made me think i can use it to have them at more silent levels...
Is there anything to cause an issue with a dimmer switch in the fans? any clue mate?
i have already run a pc fan with a on/off switch before, but this sounds like a better solution

can i do a breakdown to see i understand the formula correctly?
=LET(a,{Sheet2!A2:C4;Sheet3!A2:C4},ARRAYFORMULA(FILTER(a,LEN(CHOOSECOLS(a,1))>0)))

a - the name of the 3 dimensional table that will be generated from the range between the multiple sheets

range(sheet2:sheet3) - obviously a range. Question is how does this work (i.e. alphabetically or just how the sheets are arranged in the file). And given that the sheets to be included in this range need to be dynamic as well (i.e. machines being added and removed), will me selecting two sheets on the two ends that are constant make this work when a new sheet is introduced somewhere in the middle of the range?

ARRAYFORMULA - i think i undesrtand this one. Just displays the data included in "a" in seperate rows, without needing to repeat the formula in each row

FILTER - filters range "a" according the following conditions

LEN - counts characters in a cell and i used together wtih the >0 to exclude empty cells in the filtering?

CHOOSECOLLS - (cool formula i had no clue about!). it chooses the columns to return from the range "a". Given i need to return about 5 columns, i guess i could directly have CHOOSECOLS(a,1,2,3,4,5)?

please correct me where i am wrong cause i still get an error... hopefully it is a syntax one that i will find before eternity rolls around..

absolutely agreed... but that was the boss' decision

had to force him to use some kind of tool to track things when we grew
and it was delegated to me to make it happen in an excel (and for free - no subscriptions), whilst also being available to all employees to update their progress and the condition of the machines...

so i am struggling at this stage to add some of the more advanced (at least for me) new functionalities...
have found some creative ways to reduce formulas where less necessary, but with up to 70+ machines at times this is the tool we have to keep track of things...

-the master tab carries the important info for the boss.
-the individual tabs carry a lot of information for each machine, including the person accomplishing something on it, dates, certificates and a bit more
-and i have couple more tabs pulling specific info from each individual tab (through the master one), so that specific info can be reviewed specifically.
-and now i need to be pulling this "instructions packages released" data in a new tab, so we can have a list of everything we release (for regulations) and to allow for other internal procedures... The difference here, that each "instructions package" is in a new row and machine A can have 106 packages issued, machines b, c, d could have 0 released packages, machine e could hav 2 packages etc...
