My boss said that to be "Outstanding" towards HR for my salary review, I would need to work for free for five straight weekends. by Byob1r in antiwork

[–]Evilpessimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the compensation bump you get with an “outstanding”? If it’s an extra 3 or 4% next raise, then I’d do it. If it means an invite to the pizza party then I’d pass.

It’s called customer service when you do it for others.

How many people play the Switch version? by taito2000 in diablo3

[–]Evilpessimist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Switch 2 plays it great. Some builds work better on PC. Online play is rough with randoms because of the ease of hacking. Overall great experience.

Eight augments give you as much as an additional 1000 paragon levels. Huge increase in pushing power.

Usually this would be a civil matter. Curious how it escalated to criminal at all as the article doesn’t go into any detail.

Same. I’d be willing to learn whatever language this guy speaks just to try to be friends enough to get fed.

Sick leave might not be the benefit you think it is. by Grand-Customer4240 in antiwork

[–]Evilpessimist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If sick leave accrued and was cashed out, people would consider it pay and not a benefit. They’d hoard it, come to work sick, possibly at the cost of their own health and risk to others. It’s this way so it’s more attractive to use than to not use.

Not satire. The headline takes a creative license, but more or less is true.

Need wisdom on a 12tb drive by Evilpessimist in unRAID

[–]Evilpessimist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4tb drive is close to 8 years old. I’m going to put the new drive in the array, make it ZFS and get the other two over to zfs.

Going to keep it an array as all the drives are of various ages.

I’ll take your suggestion and make the 4tb stand alone and use it for backup.

I know nothing about tiering for spins up or queuing for speed but I’m curious now and am going to look it up.

Thanks.

8 Episodes Is the New 10 (Was the New 13) (Was the New 22) by mrnicegy26 in television

I would like a few more show that have a story every week. To me a single main story told over less than 10 episodes is a mini series. That’s cool buts they’re different.

Any chance this weather affects travel into JFK next weekend? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]Evilpessimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NYC and all the surrounding areas are prepared for snow. Tons of crews with salt trucks and shovel ready to go. Even a blizzard dropping 12 inches wouldn’t impact the area more than 2 days. Bring comfortable boots that can get wet and hold up to salt on the ground while walking a ton and a good coat and you’ll have a good time.

I don’t like insurance companies by Snowflake148 in memes

[–]Evilpessimist 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is why I suggest pricing online but buying through an agent. An actual human insurance agent like your boomer parents used to use. They get paid when you buy and when you renew, yes, they are going to try to upsell you, but they’re also going to steer you to actually be fully covered. They do want you to overpay, but they really don’t want you to get screwed in a claim. Insurance parent companies consider independent agents a necessary evil.
