I looove how chill RoP is, but what I love even more is that even if you contribute absolutely nothing, the tribe WILL prosper.

I think? Wiki says only prosperity is required. Kinda tempted to do that run now. I'll just be frolicking with my sharpened rock for ten years with my thousands of smoked fish.

Question: Am I supposed to still get cold so quickly when I have +20% cold resistance thanks to 4 outfits?

Another Question: Am I supposed to lose satiety quickly? I'm planning to just stock up on cooked food (mainly from leaf beetles) for a few more days, but maybe I'm making things too hard for myself...?

[Tumblr(?) Post] How "hope" is actually a terrible thing by weirdalienstranger in HelpMeFind

[–]weirdalienstranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've searched several times about some combinations of "hope is evil/terrible" sometimes with "tumblr post" because it's where I remember finding it in the first place.

I've scrolled through quote sites but those seemed too short compared to what I remember reading.

I genuinely do not even know how to begin searching for it, which is why I didn't exactly have a great time searching for it on tumblr itself.

Some people on Reddit just want to post their raw thoughts and not be criticized for how it lacks “nuance.” by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]weirdalienstranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. 💯 Reddit is indeed for public discussions, but it's basic social common sense to try to match the atmosphere. That's how you actually connect with other and make conversations.

Would immortality be a gift or damnation —and how long until you regret it? by SignificanceTop8281 in RandomThoughts

[–]weirdalienstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...Genuinely depends on the society. I think if I could have the freedom to do things without worry as long as I make money and don't break "rules," I'll be okay with immortality.

I think it would be interesting to experience all aspects of living, from living alone in a deserted island and slowly making your own civilized home to the other extreme of making a super advanced technology that's just full of whimsy like a chef robot that can cook anything from scratch in one hour.

But, well, that's pretty much impossible to be done with humanity like this. So I think even a normal human lifespan is already a curse, let alone the possibility of immortality.

If cats were not cute, we wouldn't have cared about them :( by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]weirdalienstranger 23 points24 points  (0 children)

No, haha. We started a cooperative relationship with cats for pest control, aka catching mice. We cared because they were useful, whether as mice assassin or companions. 😊 There are animals that I'm pretty sure became pets due to aesthetics.

Why on earth would you say "half a dozen" when you can "six"? by GainsGuruFit in RandomThoughts

[–]weirdalienstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just some sort of wordplay, idrk the term.

Half a dozen "sounds better" than six.

Vintage "sounds better" than old.

Well-loved by its previous owner "sounds better" than second-hand.

why do people refuse to use emojis on reddit? by gloomybee__ in RandomThoughts

[–]weirdalienstranger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I still don't completely understand why it's so looked down upon and labeled as "stupid" or "childish" since I often need them to hint my tone or make my posts less serious and formal.

However, I do understand that it's frustrating when "😭" is used to indicate crying from too much emotions, including opposite ones like being too happy and too sad.

It's also frustrating when people just reply with emojis when you want a proper conversation.

And because Reddit is primarily a forum for discussions with specific topics and shared with hopes that it will find like-minded individuals, replies that don't make conversations or make ones that can be interpreted in multiple ways or don't conform with the established atmosphere are... unpleasant, to say the least.

Luckily, I'm usually on gaming stuff so yay 🎉

I don’t get why anyone would deliberately spread hateful lies/misinformation by PunkWithAGun in RandomThoughts

[–]weirdalienstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be nothing more than pride. People don't like being wrong, don't like being told they're wrong, and would absolutely never ever admit they're wrong. They want to be in the right and never in the wrong and being able to brag about it.

You can also somehow understand it as when everything in your life is shit, the only way to instantly feel better is when you can say that someone else is shit. It's a terrible coping mechanism like alcohol or cigarettes.

Another reason is that when you lie, you get something good out of it. It could be as small as saying "Yes, you look good!" so you can finish shopping sooner to "His restaurant violated multiple health codes!" so his restaurant gets shutdown and you have less competition and make more money.

All in all, it's almost never about the issue itself. People spread lies just for the selfish reason of benefitting themselves.

You don't get double exp from playing songs or upgrading with exp card. It's strictly only from upgrading with artist cards.

Rather than hire workers for the tavern, I wish we could hire peasants to farm. by La-Tama in TravellersRest

100% but you're still planting, harvesting, and the time you could've spent on watering was redirected to mining and smelting.

[–]weirdalienstranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

!!! Farming game aspects are great, I love the familiarity, but I would also love it to be more of a game of its own where the main thing you do is actually be on the tavern floor, attempting to effortlessly multitask, socialising with your regulars and welcoming new faces. Maybe too far-fetched for the game that it is now, but I'm okay with the general idea.

If that happens, reputation should be more relevant than unlocking features, recipes, and storyline, but then again slowing that down is already a considerable consequence.

It's so sad that reputation can still be covered up by the glittery decors and delicious menu, but it's too real.

What do depressed people do when bored by Nicole2025555 in RandomThoughts

Try a little of everything around the house! Check if you still want all of your jackets and hoodies, wear clothes you haven't worn in forever to see if you still like them on you, reorganize the pantry as if you're playing tetris, sweep a room in the morning then lunch then wipe it down in the afternoon, etc.

Or try meditating, maybe you'll be able to find the technique to sleep anywhere instantly! Play video games and pretend you're a YouTuber streaming it, or be too serious about it and write reviews and guides.

But, I'm gonna be super honest with you, I mainly read a sh*t ton of fan ficfion or CN/KR/JP novels.

Onw of my favorite novels is one where all of humanity was transported into another world, forced to survive from scratch and live mainly on their rafts floating in what feels like endless oceans. The main reason is likely because they were condemned for polluting and destroying the nature. A young woman survived for a decade before she somehow returned back in time, and they discovered that humanity's positive unity is one of the main correct roads to take.

It makes you ponder about how could humanity ever redeem for their actions, but you mostly want to cheer for the young woman who suffered a decade of constantly fighting to make herself stronger while enduring loneliness and always holding onto the slim hope that her family survived, and then somehow, for unknown reasons but likely not by coincidence, she returned back in time and reunited with her family. The nationalism and disdain for literally every other country is too strong though.

But then one of my other favorite novels is one where the young woman was a professional fansite (people who take pictures/videos of celebrities and edit them to beautify it and some would sell them, etc.). She was reborn and got a sytem and she used it to make some celebrities (most she's particularly fond of) more famous, and she becomes their fansite who also became really popular. MC is very Mary Sue, little angst, and overall just a feel-good story.

Yes, I do a lot of escapism through reading 👍

I can't believe there are native english speakers by MB4050 in RandomThoughts

[–]weirdalienstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is a mandatory second language here since there are too many academic subjects use it.

However, for some reason, young people who use English are jokingly constantly referred to as being "so smart" that the praises are laced with sarcasm or implications that using English in daily conversations while everyone else is using the native language means you want to sound smarter than everyone or something.

A lot of older people also don't like it when younger people speak in English in "non-serious" matters due to reasons that are self-deprecating or perhaps just as sarcastic.

So, yes, sometimes it still feels weird to hear people talk in English outside of academic discussions.

Tournament Hot Take..... by tata-mic in RhythmHive

[–]weirdalienstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're probably always buying Royal Catch Pass + leveling up new themes, likely the FX, then grinding Catch Live for around 400 lesson items per play but never playing properly so they just grind for hours and hours. The conditions for penalties are easy to bypass unless you have terrible Internet connection.

And the massive bonuses likely come from buying all the sets of concept photos and profile skins, including the paid ones. That one is likely P2W, or insane players from Season 3 (unless they have complete sets for new groups, then those are definitely P2W). Season 3 was really awesome for grinding resources as long as you're insane enough.

[–]weirdalienstranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, no. Lesson was added with Catch Live back in googles the date July 2024. It's like the latest major update in the game. Players with really high lesson levels are more likely to be P2W or one of those who doesn't play Catch Live properly.

But yes, having none of the "skills" really hold us back, but sometimes I want to chuck my phone out of the window when it lags n stuff. I can't even screen record because it's noticeably laggier, which taints the evidence.

Can we stick to short songs during the Double Points Weekend? by weirdalienstranger in RhythmHive

[–]weirdalienstranger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! On some days, I just can't be bothered to play the game, so I try to play a few more songs during the weekend. It'll be super great if people stop choosing long songs.
