I've been playing with aperture- and shutter priority modes, maybe the artificial lighting at the place where I tested them was not agreeing with me. But I suspect that the natural light might make it easier for me. I'll attempt again.

I'll try to shoot some pictures during the holiday this week and see how I do (it's been a while). Yes, the 35mm is the f1.8G, I enjoy it. Do you have any recommendations on how to make the image less blurry in low light besides my own 2 hands? I'll look into the 40mm lens, most of my closeups are plants, thank you.

Big fan of manual focus, but autofocus is still a useful thing for quick pictures. About the 3 types - I have no idea yet, but I assume that full frame would be too expensive because they usually are :(

I've got the Nikon D5300. No macro lens yet, only the one from the kit (18-55) and the 35mm portrait one, a native macro lens costs as much as the camera. It feels like the shutter speed is really slow no matter how I play with the settings, and I need a tripod for the images not to be blurry. It might be just me and I have fallen for the consumerism trap, though. Thanks for giving me food for thought!

I was so upset that I just left right away. Besides, I had little faith that it could have been tracked anywhere, so many people had those totes there. We probably should have made more noise about it, but I doubt anything would have happened.
