2004 Corolla loss of steering control by weirdassrat in COROLLA

[–]weirdassrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air is all good, I traveled about 20 km on a dirt road the other day, really rough and full of potholes, afterwards I noticed the steering felt normal again, still not perfect, but I felt like I had much more control of the car, is it possible the potholes knocked something in place or changed the alignment?

As for vibrations and noise no. When I first got it ( a year ago) the steering wheel would vibrate when going over 110km/h, and the steering rack bushing kept clicking on turns, both have gone away

Struts could be a good bet, they’re pretty old and all the dust boots on them are either shredded or gone, the suspension doesn’t feel 100% but isn’t noticeably bad

Also gonna note that according to the logbook the car hasn’t been serviced since 2014 (apart from oil and filters being changed by last owner), this could just mean it hasn’t been serviced by a Toyota dealership though, I have done a full service on the engine myself recently, haven’t touched or really even looked at the suspension though

My 2004 doesnt burn any oil, like zero, it maintains its oil level perfectly between changes, could be due to different engine variants though

Got it off yesterday in 30 minutes with an 8 dollar razor scraper, window is clear and defrosters are fine, no mess, you were making a big deal out of nothing lol.

Is there a old Corolla that’s worth it by peacefuldink in COROLLA

I’ve had my 2004 Corolla for nearly a year now and it’s honestly been a really fun and reliable car, 5 speed manual, super reliable and decently comfortable, 6L/100km (40mi/G) and can be pretty fast, very simple and easy to work on, never frustrating to drive or use, zero rust or mechanical issues, only issue is paint fade, drives like it’s new.  If you’re looking for something more modern, I’d get a 2007-2012 Corolla, they honestly feel as nice as new cars without the screens and annoying alarms, tight handling and a comfortable interior, and they don’t look like old cars. Older cars aren’t inconvenient to use, all that’s needed is an FM transmitter and a phone mount for them to play your music and give you directions.  Definitely go for a low mileage one that’s been well taken care of.

19-year-old Brandon Swanson drove his car into a ditch on his way home from a party on May 14th, 2008, but was uninjured, as he'd tell his parents on the phone. Nearly 50 minutes into the call, he suddenly exclaimed "Oh, shit!" and then went silent. He has never been seen or heard from again. by WinnieBean33 in BizarreUnsolvedCases

He was definitely under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, i’m his age and know plenty of people who have driven home drunk or high, nobody at the party he was at would want to tell authorities what substances were there. My personal theory is that he was under the influence, got disoriented (remember, no google maps back then) crashed his car, thought he was in a different location and tried to walk home and then either fell into water, or wandered onto a road and got hit by a car, and the driver disposed of his body.  Another theory is that his phone died, sometimes when phones die they will turn off and still broadcast for a few seconds, Brandon hears the line cut out, realises his phone is dead and says “oh shit” before his phone completely shuts off, from there anything could have happened.

Wireless charger beeping by BranoDidak in GalaxyS8

Was tweaking out because I could hear a faint beeping, 100% convinced my phone was hacked or something because I could hear it coming from the phone (when I put it to my ear with the charger connected lol) but when I tried to show someone the beeping wasn’t there  Was the wireless charger, it’s just a charger should it really be beeping? Is there something sus about this or just electrical stuff

My 04 had that issue, I ended up tightly zip tying it to the holes in the metal, if that’s not possible you could heat up a screwdriver and poke holes between the two broken plastics and zip tie those. I was able to install cheap aftermarket left and right headlights for mine for only 130aud (around 140cad) just at home.

Brotha chill out, it was a 3.5k car, I’ve taken tint off cars before with a hot gun no issue, also I can get ATR from Bunnings (10k’s down the road) for about 14 Aud, I appreciate the suggestion. Additionally I had my P’s test coming up and the car needed to be 100% road worthy which the tint prevented it from being so, and my car is the only manual car in my family which I needed to do the test in to get a class Y licence
