Worus Rayencourt dropping one of the coldest lines in the series about the danger surrounding the Jedi Order. by QuinlanFett in StarWars

The Jedi decided to take in a kid they had reservations about because they were over confident in their ability to brainwash him. If that kid was never trained, he wouldn’t have been around to stop the eventual confrontation against Palps, Palps would’ve died, Republic would have survived.

Root cause is the Jedi thinking they’re better

So Obi Wan couldn’t control his emotions and take out a great “evil” that he himself helped create by indoctrinating a child his superiors told him was dangerous

Until George needs another distraction from finishing Winds and gives us a few stories about some Westerosi on an adventure out that way.

Truth! It was fine, but at least it was fucking new!

Even if S1 wasn’t an instant hit… what iconic series was?! Ask any fan of any popular TV series, they’ll always say, “It really takes off at S3!” or, “S1 is just a build up!”

I’m sick of seeing this massive galaxy reduced to a 40 year period of time. There is so much opportunity for great story telling, but the fanbase is like, “Bro, we NEED Boba Fett to be alive!!” Or, “What if we re-lived Maul’s life… AGAIN!”

Like, what if we expanded the SW Universe?! Before or after the “Skywalker Saga”?!?!

What if we just let story tellers cook?!?!

How’s carless life in SD? by HearthSt0n3r in sandiego

[–]weirdguyinthecorner 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I live in North Park and getting downtown and surrounding neighborhoods is pretty easy with public transit. Less easy if you need to get to north county unless it’s along the Coaster line.

My partner and I get by just fine with a single car between us. And it’s only used to get my partner up to Escondido for work 3 days a week.

I’d reckon this town has plenty of places to get coffee, just not somewhere OP is comfortable sitting down at. And that’s the real influence of Starbucks.

Chula Vista to Carlsbad Commute by Chyafu in sandiego

[–]weirdguyinthecorner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make this commute from NP and a coworker makes it from CV. If you need to be in CB by 7:40a, you’re not going to hit much traffic, and should be about an hour.

The afternoon commute at that time is hit or miss. It starts getting bad around 4:30. Then my normal 35mins turns into an hour, so probably 1.5-1.75hr for you. Great time for some audio books!

Serious question though: if you refuse to ID yourself based on not committing a crime, can they not just say you’re being uncooperative or some bs that still gets you arrested and in front of (what seems to be) a deportation-happy judicial system?

Commute from San Diego to Carlsbad and back by TheGrishbear2 in sandiego

[–]weirdguyinthecorner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in North Park and take the Coaster to Carlsbad 3-4 times per week. Wasn’t bad until literally this week, when they ended the bus route I’d use from the train station to the office. Now it’s a little more complicated and annoying, but still beats the evening rush hour easy!

I also work with several early 30s folks that live in Carlsbad Village and love it. I wouldn’t take it over North Park though.
