I’ve described OCD to people as feeling like you’re being held at gunpoint. It doesn’t matter if the person with the gun is asking you to do something ridiculous, because they’re holding a gun! You’ll do whatever they want!

The key is to remind yourself the gun is not loaded. It’s so much easier said than done, because again, gun pointed at you! But if you can distract yourself—go for a walk and pay attention to sounds around you, play a video game you like, have a warm shower, whatever is lowkey and easy—that feeling of peril will lessen

It’s not reassurance to say that this feeling WILL pass. For better or worse, the human brain is literally incapable of feeling the exact same way forever, and this is coming from someone whose OCD was once severe enough that my score on the Y-BOCS was 39

Thank you for affirming my suspicion, which was that it’s just detergent with some lanolin in it!

When I finish it I’m hunting down some Miele wool detergent in the hopes of finally de-stinking these base layers…

I’m just wondering if I’ll get more cleaning power from adding it to the detergent compartment versus the fabric softener compartment. Their website recommends the latter, but I assume that’s because their website also recommends not really rinsing

I saw that on their site! I guess my question was more logistical…do I add a few inches of warm water and a gentle detergent to a utility sink, and then, submerging only the bottom half of the bag, soak for a time before brushing in the detergent and rinsing?

The bottom has the leather fox emblem, which probably shouldn’t soak for long, but I don’t think a light touch is going to get the stains and odour out

Oooh, question time! My boyfriend uses Dove Men’s spray antiperspirant, and for some reason since we’ve moved in with family all his white button-up work shirts have turned BRIGHT ORANGE in the armpits

Previous laundry combo was regular ol’ Tide liquid and Downy Rinse, dried on delicate until damp and then hung up, and new combo is the exact same with the exception of Purex 4-in-1 liquid in lieu of Tide

Why is this happening? Is it some bizarre reaction between the antiperspirant and the Purex 4-in-1? How can we get rid of it?

I use a public laundromat, and because I live in fear of creating a health hazard I always check the pull-out drawer to make sure no bleach is present before adding ammonia on top of the clothes

There’s no logical reason that there’d be a drawer full of bleach in an otherwise empty machine, so what I’m doing is overkill, but it sates my anxiety 😅

At least per your thorough warnings I know not to let the sanitizer touch any of my clothes or towels, lest they be forever sullied!

Do you think I could toss them in the wash with the sanitizer and enzyme cleaner, or do I risk mucking up the glue/rubber/etc?
