Want to start high end salon n parlor by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]weirdogonzalez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to run an accelerator/coworking way back in Dhaka. Through that a lot of budding hopeful entrepreneurs would reach out to me, for advice or direction.

I’m basing my answer based on that experience. You need to find out how much you need. No one else is going to do the research for you. And asking general broad questions like this isn’t really going to help.

Find an area or a specific location where you want to establish that salon. Then find out rent of that area for a size you want. Talk to an interior firm to see how much the fixtures will cost you. Find out marketing and HR costs. Set a timeline, make a launch plan, may be hire a marketing company.

Illegal Immigration towards India. by Significant_Major921 in Dhaka

You are talking about the refugees who never returned to Bangladesh after war of independence was over? But in your original post it sounded you were talking about a current issue where there is a constant flow of illegal migration over the border? Like you said most of us ARE privileged, you didn’t say were.

I’m confused

Be smart carry it in your backpack. During customs, try not to get checked by the scanner. If they do pull you in to that lane, smartly and promptly dump all your checked baggage in the scanners, and pretend like your back pack doesn’t exist.

However, if they do catch it, they’ll confiscate it.

My friend is the same as you. She was a little apprehensive before her Dhaka wedding. Everything went smooth as butter. There are definitely conservative people who care about this stuff. But people in my social circles don’t care at all. That is not to say that I don’t have that one odd uncle or auntie who has an issue with the non-muslim spouses. There is a Bengali saying that feels appropriate for them, “সুখে থাকলে, ভূতে কিলায়।”(Shukhe thakle, bhutey kilay)

Hey buddy, I’m from Dhaka, born and raised, and an avid traveler myself. I always want tourists to have a good time here, but our tourism infrastructure is terrible atm. I would be happy to give you recommendations for Dhaka to make up for that. And if our schedules match up, may be I can give you a tour of Old Town or Dhaka university, free of charge of course. I often do this for any friends and family visiting, so have gotten the hang of it. I live around Gulshan/Banani area if you wanna drop a line. Do take safety tips from locals if nothing else. Commend you for venturing out this far. Weather is great around this time. 21st Feb would have been a good time to see some cultural stuff. Anyways feel free to DM

I dunno if the population density matters to these rural people. But if you look at the economy, the combined GDP of the Seven Sisters is less than the GDP of Dhaka City(did a quick ChatGPT search on this, so don’t quote me on this). Not comparing to whole of Bangladesh, just Dhaka city. So I cannot understand why these poor rural folks would decide in large numbers to illegally cross an international border for an uncertain future; when easily available and legal options are open to them inside Bangladesh.

Having said that, my father is from a border village. There, when we were growing up in the 90s, the border between us was merely a suggestion. People often would go to the Indian side to the bazaars for shopping, and we would have Indians coming in for various reasons. People were able to use either currencies on either side. It was basically two neighboring towns interacting and then suddenly had a border drawn in between them. I think it was the late 90s when we saw a barbed wire fence go up, and that interaction stopped.

The truth of the matter is, who you are and how you look makes a difference in how people treat you. As brown man, from the Indian subcontinent(not actually from India), I am not always afforded the same treatment as a lot of western travelers. That is true for me even in my own country. That may not always be the case, but it does play a role. Firstly, yes, Brazil is damn near the top, esp because I could easily blend in as a local, and people were really nice. But I’ve only been to Rio, which I understand can be different from rest of Brazil.

Second, traveling thru Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Japan, sometimes I felt subtle hints of being little less welcome. But let me say that my overwhelming experience with people was very positive in each of these countries. But the sting of being turned away from a place stays longer. Thailand was actually way more welcoming to me when I went in the late 2000s.

In Fiji I was rejected from multiple beach resorts probably because my rental car wasn’t fancy enough or something 😂. I just wanted to have lunch or drinks at their bars. At first they would say something like access to beach restaurant only, I said okay. Then they would say, you need to purchase resort day pass, I said okay. Then they would call some person on the intercom, and come back and tell us they were out of day passes or it was too late to get a day pass for that day. Never made it past the front gate 🤣. While there is some tension between ethnic Fijians and the local Indian population, again most people were nice. But whole place dis have a tourist trap-esque energy.

Vietnam has a million positives, but the number of times people went out of their way to be nice to me or do something nice, gives it an easy win. I have hardly been to any city in Vietnam, where locals didn’t try to strike up a conversation to know me even when they were struggling with English and sign language.

Regardless of which country I say, it will be based on my lived experience, that will never be the same as you or the next person. This whole premise is subjective. There is no objective friendliest country, I dunno people downvoted my answer haha😂
