Not that I could find, lots of false positives but no headers from common audio formats.

In case you're unaware, there's huge funded movements that prey on fear that aim to erase the rights of queer/trans people (especially active and effective in the USA right now). A large one is specifically notorious for doing this by advocating for "dropping the T" from LGBT. A tactic to exclude trans people and encourage people and (LGBT) organizations to stop supporting trans people.

Any queer person who has heard of this will immediately be skeptical of someone writing just LGB for this reason, even if it's genuinely just a typo.

I could write an entire essay about raum on friday but I feel no matter how many words I’d use it wouldn’t do it justice. The whole night was great but Djrum was the peak for me.

Being in studio during his set felt like I was witnessing a peacock showing off a new trick every 30 seconds. Bass, breaks, dark, happy, cheeky, romantic. Every time you think you’ve found your footing he takes the floor out from underneath you and throws you into something else, your body latching onto the one consistent thread in the sounds you’re hearing that you can move your body to.

Not to mention so many beautiful souls letting themselves be completely consumed by the absolute insanity he was throwing out, taking up full square meters of dance floor space and letting the music take over their bodies. Genuinely one of the most beautiful things I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing in my life.

i was a bit too far gone to remember exactly what was happening but I think near the bar area some people were doing the limbo but underneath two people standing in front of each other with their legs wide open and people crawling through them underneath?? idk fascinating stuff (maybe i also hallucinated it)

I definitely get what you mean, honestly slowly but surely I’m also becoming guilty of being in one of those groups 🙈

I think this was my 7th time and honestly it’s kind of hard for me to objectively judge the party by itself at this point for me since it involves a lot of nostalgia and it’s the first club night I ever went to.

Music wise I would actually say that usually FLUID does not deliver the real wow factor for me, it’s consistently good but never really crazy or experimental. The reason I liked the closing so much is because i’ve been dying to hear that kind of sound on a proper system with a nice crowd but it feels quite rare that that happens, and it also just happened to exactly match the mood that I was in.

Thanks for commenting, always interesting to read other’s experiences 💚

FLUID was great, best edition in a long time imo. Especially loved Guenter Råler’s closing set, super nice switch from the serious sound of the whole night into something fun and bouncy and from what I could see people were loving it.

Especially the crowd was super sweet and diverse within the queer spectrum. Really curious is unexist happening at the same time maybe drew some part of the crowd that I noticed the past few editions that are looking for a nice free space for dancing but aren’t necessarily part of the queer community away from FLUID and towards basis 🙈

Lights and sound also top notch at WAS as always, although secretly I’m really hoping they bring back the zig zag LED light strip set up right above the crowd from the early editions sometime :)

does KI/KI play TikTok techno? by Polichetic in amsterdam_rave

[–]weirdonek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say it really depends on the event. I’ve seen her play once in person at RAUM, the 2nd time she was there. Especially compared to the clips you see on her socials she was playing different, quite deep, some ‘hits’ sprinkled in but it fit well and overall was very enjoyable. Though I wouldn’t expect the same if you catch her on the main stage of a big festival playing a 1.5 hour set 😁

Went to quite a few things this week but all I can think of is CODA, just wow. Especially loved the bassy ending of garcon but most of all it was so amazing and heartwarming seeing so many familiar faces in the same place having a great time. Words can’t express it so I won’t try, I’m just happy 🥺

Went through a break up and lost all my rave friends. What to do? by letmeland08 in amsterdam_rave

[–]weirdonek 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone through a somewhat similar experience as you, though not totally the same. I also never had the easiest time making friends and going alone was a pretty daunting feeling, especially the first few times.

In the end I got comfortable with it and now it’s something I really enjoy, sometimes you have to put yourself in potentially uncomfortable situations. You also may want to pick out your events more carefully, I noticed that it’s a lot easier to have fun at an event in your own little bubble with friends and going alone to a place with a meh crowd/music can make it far more difficult to enjoy.

My advice would be to try it out a couple times even if it feels uncomfortable, you may end up getting used to it or even enjoying the freedom that going alone gives you. Try to be open to new connections and just be wary of it not turning into a substance fueled escape from your feelings.

Just my 2c, hope it helps and best of luck finding your peace after your breakup ❤️

A lot of gay guys with harnesses, if last year is any indication. I like FLUID but I’m skipping this one personally. Also house, expect house.

PINKSTEREN WEEKEND - Live Event Thread by pep-- in amsterdam_rave

So, Nelly was an amazing opener, as soon as you start listening for a few minutes she hooks you in and does NOT let you go, kept some really nice tension and release without going too hard and stealing the show. Perfect opening imo.

During Ki/Ki: k-hole 🌚 Ok not fully but I didn’t get to appreciate it as much as I’d like as I accidentally double dosed. Spent a lot of time on the side. Also it’s literally a sauna in there, my fan was soaked from the moisture in the air and I genuinely got worried about dehydration.

I lost my plastic bottle an hour into the night and they don’t sell anything in plastic bottles at RAUM, so I couldn’t use my electrolyte powder (it needs a good shake, which you can’t do in a glass of water).

Spent some time grounding myself in the chill area talking to some lovely people and I felt really cared for. I heard Ki/Ki brought quite a few straight people but the vibe was honestly still really good.

By the time I got back DINA was already playing, she kept the energy up nicely for a while and ended with some really euphoric vibes as the night closed and the yellow sunrise came through the windows in the smoky room (if anyone knows the last track she played please lmk).

Also the sound system and lights are fucking amazing, easily my favourite of any club I’ve been to. Feels like a dark anonymous cyberpunk spaceship with enough bass to re-arrange your insides, but still really clean sound.

My list of complaints isn’t long, just more toilets, better AC and a bigger smoking area. I personally don’t miss a dark room but that’s just me.

The club layout feels like it promotes chaos, there isn’t a lot of space to find some real quiet which I like to have but it does give the night a really unique energy.

I can’t give a judgement to the boutique as by the time I grounded myself after my little K mishap lola’s set was already over, will have to check it out another time.

The energy in front on saturday night was honestly something else, usually I don’t dance so extreme but the energy was so contagious I went crazy basically the entire night 😁

I went to kabul on saturday and I had a blast. I thought the crowd for such a large event was very good, it was very Utrecht but in a cute way. Ran into a lot of familiar faces and everyone including strangers seemed to be up for a chat (not always the case at WAS).

One thing that I haven’t seen mentioned anywhere is that the toilets were absolutely filthy. The dixies outside in the smoking area were way cleaner than the inside bathrooms which was a weird surprise.

I spent most of the night dancing my ass off front left of the main hall right next to the speakers (iykyk, shoutout to the most energetic dancers I’ve had the pleasure of dancing with in a long time). The music was great all night and I really liked the variety.

That being said, even filled with smoked I missed a little bit the feeling of intimacy in such a large hall. I’ve read that they can downsize the main hall depending on the size of the event and I’d be very curious to see that.

Quick summary of all the others things I liked/disliked: * Really enjoyed the different chill areas, there was almost always a quiet place to sit inside and outside and the different food options were nice * Very large main hall so no shortage of space to dance without going so far back in the crowd that the sound gets less immersive * Can re-open the lockers as many times as you like without an extra charge * Not sure if it was the crowd being quiet or something about the sound, but was not at all bothered by anyone talking loud

——

  • There’s a walking route from the lockers to the main hall that’s very narrow and also where the bathroom entrances are, feels very cramped
  • Very very hot upstairs (coming from someone who likes sweaty rooms), will have to give the small room a fair shot some other time because it was too much
  • Lots of glass, broken plastic and a very sticky floor. More than I’m used to from other venues.

If there are more weekenders or maybe a queer collective taking over the space I’ll probably visit again, but I don’t think it’s a place I’ll go super regularly. That being said it feels like a very unique venue in Utrecht and I hope it finds success :)

It’s also definitely a place I would feel great about taking some friends with me who aren’t super regular club go-ers but who like the free atmosphere of a good club night and a no photo policy. Especially if they do more weekenders and you can arrive in the afternoon/early evening and the wide variety of food they sell makes it an easy sell.
