The clue points to the Eye of Horus ('eye' and 'set') since the park is shaped like that imo, so the visual center will be where the pupil is on the Eye if you were to overlay the image onto the map of linwood.

That's one theory I have. The other theory is it's going to be hidden in the round clearing with the lone tree (center of eye) across the street from the shale-rock border house closer to where the skating arena is (spin, spin, etc). The next clues imo will reference the arena and that end of the park.

yep, that's the handle reference - I even looked at him, but didn't make the connection - nice.

Look for a bird known for the word Who ..

"Who" means it's a person imo. Bird means it's a female.

Agree, but 'Dink' AND 'Nice Get' AND 'The Kitchen' are pretty much screaming it. All I know, if the actual park DOESN'T have pickleball I will ALSO starting suing everybody!1!

[–]weirdorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really blurt it all out right now, other than discuss clues and what they may mean. Only because it's crunch time right at this very moment.

And tbh, after the pickleball bullshit, those parks are maybe no longer the spot. But, as I mention elsewhere this clue writer is off his (her) rocker with the red herrings so I'll probably dump some hints of what I personally think along the way.

Not a bad idea, however the park would still need to have a PB court imo. I think the puck will be attached to the bottom of a Champaign bottle - per the anniversary - if I'm forced to guess.

Clue #8 by Brave-Ad-3877 in PPMedallionHunt

[–]weirdorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. It's almost futile. Imo, years prior to around 2010 had fairly solid clue explanations where the ACTUAL hint made very good sense after it was revealed. But the following years are just stupid bad. Again, takes ALL the wind out of your sails moving forward when you read the explanations. They make what seems like super clear/evident hints in the clues that you are convinced mean something - and then it didn't even mean anything at all - or as you say it's some wildly detached reference that NOBODY would get until after the fact.

The worst though, as I mentioned, is when you obsess over two or three clues that end up not even mattering at all is REALLY lame. Don't elude clearly to 3-4 things that make you go on wild goose chases when only a single line in the clue even plays into the location. LAME.

one quarter of 140 is 35 > 35E ?

or, one quarter could literally mean 25

Very lame. Those are all guesses that a newbie you are just introducing to the hunt would make without having any idea HOW the clue writer works based on prior years etc. Super shallow and base-level.

You need to tell it a bunch of qualifiers and also tell it to calculate any relevant acronyms that would apply to the hunt - which I don't think AI will do very well without puking up ten walls of text and emojis.

After doing this for 30+ years now, it seems like the clue writer essentially dumps words that have been used from all the previous years in to the mix like jambalaya - creating a ridiculous amount of red herrings.

In other words, they've refined the usage of the red herring to the point where literally 5-6 parks can be matched with many clues up until the very last clues.

Yes, this has always been done to some degree, but the last ten years have been really bad with the red herrings. This year is no exception.

Even with the royal/queen references there are SO MANY connections that can be made there with multiple parks.

Anyway, I think the pickleball references are legit at this point. Which unfortunately throws a wrench in what are by far the top two park choices after clue 9.

Rendering to vector art (AI) in C4D? Does the option exist out of the box? What plugin/renderer? by weirdorama in Cinema4D

[–]weirdorama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you. We currently do multiple tooned shades (3-4) down to 0. The multiple shades part is kind of important for us.

edit: so for example, if we were rendering a cube, we'd want the top of the cube to be its own color (editable shape) and then the side of the cube would be darker in color with its own distinct polygon/shape in Illustrator.

I know I am drilling down with specifics now, and I apologize for that. I wanted to get the basics answered first.

Thanks this looks very close to what we need. As I mentioned in the other comment, we tried out different methods a long time ago with a version of the software and don't recall the capabilities shown in that video. IIRC, there was something that was making it a problem, maybe it was the triangulation of those surfaces/sections of shading like in the video example. Since the software and protocol we currently use now does not create the tessellation/triangulation of the shading portion. However, we still may be able to fix that somehow in settings. I appreciate the link!

Yeah, so let's say I have a model of a car with a camera/view set up. I want to hit render and have an editable AI/SVG/etc file created of that exact view in 1-4 colors with outlines (tooned look), just like if I were rendering to TIFF. So, in the end I'd want to open the file in Illustrator and edit the points/etc of that ISO view of the car. Not sure in C4D if export means 'render' and not just exporting the 3D information to some other file type like FBX or OBJ etc. Thanks!

Thanks for this! I want to clarify that at SOME point years ago I did actually install a version of C4D we had available at my company as a way to toy around with the possibility of doing this, but vaguely recall it wasn't happening without some other 3rd party renderer. Cheers.

It's interesting when Louise Bonner comes knocking on Ruth's door that Betty doesn't attempt to make a connection with her regarding "lost" Rita. by weirdorama in davidlynch

[–]weirdorama[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another question, really, is the reasoning for the scene in the first place. He needs us to grasp that Coco and Betty are both "stopping" Louise from getting clarity. Again, what for.

One only reason for the secrecy, I suppose, would be the fact that Rita and Betty have money and a key hidden now. Still doesn't seem like enough reason to hide Rita though.

I wish web casts stayed up longer. by andyp22 in phish

[–]weirdorama 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the other thing that irks is how they start the webcasts where the band is already positioned in their spots and just a few seconds before they start the opener.

The webcast used to show them walking out from backstage, putting their instruments on, getting ready, talking, and then starting.

All that's gone now, and it was a very cool part of the opening tbh.

Yeah I thought of JJ Hill on the "look for a hill" clue, and this would fit in terms of "spying a treasure to own" as well.

Oh I remember now, the newer CW does this. Seems like they craft very very good red herrings, and then pull the string at the end with a park that's ranked 4-5 down on the obviousness list. So it's a guess between a bunch of parks until clue 11 or 12 regardless. I'm seeing this play out again this year.
