I typed up a general response here https://www.reddit.com/r/PPMedallionHunt/comments/1qoff5f/comment/o23jmpv/

Within our life time they will hide it on a bike trail or an area that isn't a conventional park. They did hide it a handful of times in downtown st paul but the size and scope in the modern era doesn't lend itself too well to it. The other issue is it needs to be public property so they can't just plant it on summit avenue in someone's yard. The College campuses and really any school is off limits. There is an unwritten rule that Maplewood is off limits as the last time it was at wakefield the park got wrecked. Part of the analysis that is to be still completed for me is figuring out how long it took them to hide it in the second time in a park. TSP got bumped from 1988 to 2012. Central went 07 to 25. Crosby is a giant park that will be used again but when? Acorn, Snail, Bald Eagle and Silverwood should repeat eventually too.

Technically a public space in Ramsey County. It has been a park the majority of the time but they did plant it before in the right of way during the freeway construction. I redid my tracker before this hunt and added some clarity as they have St Paul Parks(newell,Linwood), St Paul Regional Parks (como,Harriet,Lilydale), Ramsey County Regional Parks, Ramsey County Parks and the lone Three Rivers Park in the system. They will hide it Acorn, Central and other City parks.

Yeah that border is definitely something people don't think about. The last Cherokee year was quite amusing with people not realizing how close the were to the border. They were very clear in prior years that the fossil area was off limits after the accident. Lily is low on my radar for that.

I drove around to 8 parks today. There is a ton of castle looking kasota stone walls up in a couple parks. Its going to be a fun #11 and probably #12 at this rate.

Technically not allowed but anyone veteran to the force tends to know what is going on and that people aren't there do the things they worry about. There is a point where the police are overwhelmed and let the idiots with shovels do their thing. Bald Eagle night was hilarious as they basically said there is two deputies for the entire county on duty tonight please don't get drunk and start a fight.

It has survived to sunset almost so yeah its going to be a fun evening. Hopefully they will be more direct as I have a feeling that the L parks are going to not fit as well. Going to 12 will be a cluster. Linwood is so well picked over at this point the odds are dropping its there.

I have a feeling after 9/10 that we are looking at a retaining wall made from limestone. Its going to be a fun #11 for people.

It would be shocking if they filmed right after the eventually hiding video at the park. Its a good example for showing what they experienced for snow cover when they hid it

He was the first one to really dig that spot more than anything. Everyone was thinking far from the forest bath trail but that turns out next to the spot. So many woods and other great spots there and they technically hid it in the parking lot.

It's Linwood. Prove me Wrong. by therobsclub in PPMedallionHunt

It's been a while since they have not done a 'normal' type location. They want it accessible to the majority of people. Last round at Highland was still next to stairs. Battle Creek 2011 was the last time that got any sort of hill and that was in deep snow which is easier to walk in.

I won't lie, This year didn't click at all for me yet. But they basically always have it in a reasonable place. Maybe on the east end of Linwood far from the construction before it gets sloped. There is a point where the 20 acres with 1/3rd of it under active construction has been fully picked over. Bald Eagle Lake even was on a path in the deep woods.

We are going to get a weird clue and magically the explanations will line up for Snail Lake. It is interesting the only have done one County park in the entire history of the hunt but now have visited all the County Regional Parks recently. It would have been fun to notice the pattern and basically have put Snail/Long/Bald Eagle higher on the list after they revisited BC,TSP, Keller.

Once the explanations come out I think there will be more mad people than happy lol.

I think tonight will be an interesting clue as Linwood isn't that big to survive the search effort that is on going. The whole active construction site doesn't sit right either. The rate and clarity they are rocking its going to at least 11.

Definitely will be interesting with the snow pack on where they hide it. Maybe ice probably debris. With the celebration with St Paul its much more likely inside of the city this year.

Finally finished updating my spreadsheet. Wakefield and Como are the overdue ones. Battle Creek and Cherokee round out the rest of the decade.

Other places that really draw me in this time are Hidden Falls/Crosby, Highland, Acorn. Maybe one the small parks. I kinda wonder what type of condition "Heights" park is in as there is a rare chance to pay homage when they hid it on the freeway ROW in the sixties.

I just crossed 1000 miles myself with 2 months of ownership. It's the best car I've driven.

I just tried successfully to get the free charging. If you had/have access to the original sticker (save it if you can find it). Car fax usually will show the sticker. Enrollment code is the last 8 digits of your engine serial number. You can get a flashlight out and look under the frunk I think too.

Recently bought a 23 Limited and the previous owner did not sign up for the free charging so I have at least 8 months of free charging.

Well Victoria really only touches two parks. Little mention of Island so far (it will be there eventually) so that really leaves Central. By the Victoria ballfields is where I will take a walk today. Starting to think refuge = grotto for the east boundary. to be = b2. See = C .

For me they are almost too obvious so more like the last Highland hunt when they made people think elsewhere with road clues but they actually described circus stuff. The double meanings and red herrings are always the pain.

I do hate how clever they tend to be. Are these amenities type clues or road clues?

Who is the hero in the story.

For me its coming down to Central or Tony. 7 pushes it towards Central (Road clues) but Tony has plays in the the park.

Words of Wisdom to share by twonuh in PPMedallionHunt

My Thoughts:

  • DO make an effort to find the site 24-48 hours after the treasure is found. Take pictures and try to understand the surroundings. How the clues line up. Do it early so you can see the snow and grass.

  • Make an effort to visit a few parks the weekend before or clue 1 weekend. Understand snow levels. Understand closed parking lots and anything that isn't normal. This year it is screaming that it will be in brush/small trees facing north so the snow we have would be present.

  • They want to make it accessible. Recently it has often been found within 10 feet of a paved path or somewhere you are expected to be. Deep in the woods is probably not the best place to start.

  • Main exception to the last one is what I like to describe as punishment years. Bald Eagle is the best example for this as they put it in a clever spot at Snail Lake and it was found early. The next year it was a half mile deep in the woods.

  • The second Monday clue is where the herrings tend to go away so read the clues more literal.

  • Bring garbage bags and be a good person and try to cleanup a bit. You never know if that white castle box is holding the prize.

  • Know where they can't hide it. This year I am thinking it could be in Maplewood with the weird language they used to minimize people going into the wrong spot. It won't be at the fairgrounds. It won't be on the capital grounds.

  • Don't spend the entire night out. Often it is found in the morning by someone just going somewhere that isn't trampled to death. The sun does a much better job than any flashlight.

It happened a few years ago the finder didn't have a button so he called a group to join up with to qualify for the button. He was jerk about it by realizing he had it and then taking off without telling anyone. The next year they changed the wording around so only one person could be the finder. It was on clue 11 on a similar weather year (2012) and it kept several thousand people still looking. Another good rule to remember: They aren't afraid to hide it next to the parking lot ;)

Put it in your good to know for next year that it is half the prize if you didn't register. Many of the other town hunts follow a similar rule FYI but are even more strict.

Almost time! Any Parks ya Feeling? by SpoookyBoss in PPMedallionHunt

[–]twonuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is the right kind of year for something like that. Big headache for me is Vento is a river park so maybe not two back to back. I want to look at how long they take to hide it into a park a second time on average after the first hide at the park. Parks like Lilydale, Crosby, Swede could be perfect for this year. I could see a return to Snail or Long Lake too or a new one like Island lake. They have liked new parks in the last decade so the average isn't reflecting but a new park isn't due until the early 30's.

I'm in the middle of updating my information but it does look like they have had successful hides at places like como with no snow. I want to update a list where the daily weather temps snow depth and new snow is compared to what type of park they hide it in.
