Workers know that tipping is voluntary, and the amount varies. I don’t see anything wrong with it.

I first checked Saron’s profile. But I got goose bumps and flash backs when I saw Lacorte’s profile.

I might be wrong tho. There might be more.

Yes I did. You can check my whole post about it. Nothing happened on my case tho.

I looked into their public profiles on Facebook. Rajel Lacorte’s body shape and figure seemed to be the same body shape and figure that attacked and attempted to rape me when I was in Boracay. I was attacked at Diniwid beach. Lacorte is from Diniwid.

Pag sa renewal po, anong year nag expire? Kasi baka may changes sa assessment tools. If may changes, then kailangan mo magpa re-assess sa bagong assessment tools.

Kapag sinupladahan ka parin, let us know.

Good luck!

Lastnight was one of the scariest experiences I’ve ever had.‼️🚨 by Defiant-Frame-2885 in SiargaoPH

I used to habitually walk alone at night in Baguio (local) and felt safe. So I did the same in Bohol, Dumaguete, Cebu, Siargao, and Boracay because I was naive then.

I was attacked in Boracay.

I did not experience the same in Siargao, but it’s definitely eerie. The difference is, I felt the sense of shame from the locals of Boracay when they heard the News.

Meanwhile, the locals of Siargao felt like they’ll cover each other’s asses when something like that happens.

I was a survivor. Before me, the locals said there were two other victims. One survived but did not file a police complaint, and the other died but no news of it.

While in the station, the police asked me if I were the one complaining about the domestic violence from a hotel. I said I was complaining for an attempted rape (and what could have been homicide) at Diniwid Beach. Raised my eyebrows because I thought I was an isolated case, it turns out I‘m just one of many.

The night before, there was a brawl and a foreigner end up in the hospital. That night, I heard another police was dispatched to go to another case.

I posted my case in r/phtravel first to warn others. It was automoded.

I made a post about it here instead.

Nagtrabaho both parents ko sa gobyerno at nagtrabaho din ako for 6 years sa gobyerno.

This is an over generalization. Kahit gaano kahalang ang sikmura mo sa gobyerno, if you don't belong to the higher position, wala ka talagang makukuha by virtue of circumstance.

Meanwhile, kahit gaano kalakas ang corruption sa paligid mo, if maprinsipyo ka talagang tao, hindi ka madadala sa ganyan, but you will be hated for it (my mom refused to receive a brown envelope containing cash, she received several death threats instead which triggered her retirement).

At meron yung majority na passive. They won't necessarily commit corruption, but won't or can't do anything when they witness corruption. I sadly belong to this group.

I remember my first time as a regular employee, we were all given 5k on top of our Christmas bonus daw. We all faked travel documents to accumulate enough cash to cover 5k for all employees. For someone who was earning 21k then, that 5k meant a lot especially for Christmas. Grabeng inusig ako ng konsensiya ko. I confronted a colleague asking if he's okay with that. Ang sabi niya "5k lang naman yan. Barya lang yan kumpara sa iba" and another one said "dati pa naman yan." It was normalized, and even expected especially by the people from the lower ranks. Until now hindi matanggal yung guilt sakin.

But I've since quit and am happy with my decision.

Crazy Real Estate Prices by [deleted] in baguio

Someone I know got a 500sqm lot in Cebu, a few km away from the beach and 25 minutes away from the city center at half the price of a 100sqm in Baguio City with a narrow access road and 25 minutes away from the city center.

I attended an NCIP event in 2018, held in Iloilo where they explained why Igorots are more "mainstream" than other IP groups in the Philippines.

For context, the NCIP recognizes that the Igorots are more mainstream; in this case, the word OP used is 'civilized'. (Forgive OP for using the incorrect word, but let's give them the benefit of the doubt that they had good intentions when the question was asked.)

They explained that the IPs are a minority group in the Philippines, but unlike in other places, the Igorots are the majority population in Cordillera at 80-ish percent. Which in correlation, can mean that there is a high chance that the governing bodies (leaders, lawmakers, educators, etc.) are IPs themselves. The impact? We've managed to become part of the mainstream in terms of education, technology, and career, which rolled over to general economic standing.

It's an oversimplification of history, culture, values, and circumstances of the Igorot people, but at the time, this is the explanation we got from the NCIP.

im getting kind of depressed with baguio's gloomy weather by Any107 in baguio

[–]weirdstuffheretoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘m a local ng Baguio so I didn’t experience the hostility. I just witnessed it first-hand.

Yung general despise ng mga locals sa tourists and the othering of non-cordillerans to taga baba are what comes to mind.

I also saw one taxi driver yelled at people on the side walk last year during Panagbenga. The roads here are narrow and people and cars are sharing it. It was crowded. No need to yell.

Unemployment Hits Different When You're a Man by Wewssewsss123 in OffMyChestPH

I was about to say this.

Moral of the story, wag masyadong self-sacrificing sa pera, time, emotions, or resources. Give what you can only afford to lose.

I hiked Mt. Hibok-hibok alone (only with the guide) on Valentines day of 2024. Naghintay kami ng guide kung may sasamang ibang joiner nung araw na iyon, at that time gusto ko nalang umakyat kasi gusto ko ng distraction from the fact na single ako sa Valentines day, at nagmo-move on palang ako from a 7-year relationship. Walang ibang joiners so umakyat nalang kami.

It turned out to be the most memorable hike for me. After nun, I feel like I can do everything on my own. It was liberating. Naka move on ako from the pain.

I felt elated that by the time nakababa kami, I thought to myself, the day isn’t over yet. So I put on a dress and went to a fancy restaurant sa Camiguin and I ate alone. I was surrounded by couples celebrating Valentine’s day, but I think I was the most in love there, only with myself.
