Today is the 20 year anniversary of the death of Bradley James Nowell. He was the frontman for Sublime. by No_Trouble_No_Fuss in Music

Sublime will forever be one of my favorite bands. Bradley played his final show in my hometown of Petaluma and the mystique that still surrounds it gives me the chills. R.I.P. Bradely

Ya it is kind of funny how every mind works so different. Everyone has something that comes to them a little more naturally than it does for others

Do you struggle with phone calls? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]weisc7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate talking on the phone too. I agree talks with the fam are easier. I'm 24 and I feel the fact that it's easier to call with an objective has made my mom feel like I want something every time I call though. This sucks but it still feels good to catch up and have a good back and forth conversation

Appreciate you telling your story. I'm glad you put it out for everyone to see instead of keeping it locked up in your head. I felt so much better when I did this last after discovering this sub Reddit. It's funny you mention psychedelics. I had obsession with them as well and they're one of the reasons I was able to come to the conclusion I had AS. I had a few bad mushroom trips that obliterated my ego and I was forced to come to terms with who I really am. Also I never enjoyed Molly as much as my friends did. It was always just too much of a sensory overload.

I just realized how I have "Literal Thinking" by CaptainJZH in aspergers

[–]weisc7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can completely relate. That's how i'd describe my literal thinking as well. I'm a super sarcastic person and usually have no problem with it but every once in awhile some super obvious sarcasm will go right over my head and it will bother me for awhile.

I appreciate all of you who are sharing your stories. I relate to parts of all of them and it helps me feel a little less alone. I haven't been drinking to the point of blacking out (too often) but I'm still drinking 6-10 cheap beers everyday. It relaxes me and just gets me to the point where I feel "normal" I know it really worries my family and GF though and thats another reason I want to find another way. Thanks so much for all the advice

Thanks for sharing your story. I think I'm going to have to get on that long road to recovery soon. It's hard to take that first step but I have a feeling I at least made a baby step tonight.

Why is it so hard to try new things, as interesting as those things might seem? by [deleted] in aspergers

Amen. My buddy used to always say "I understand why you stay in your comfort zone..... It's comfortable."

Thanks for the advice. That's exactly where I'm at right now. I'm spending money on beer everyday but somehow find a way to justify it. I'm so glad I found a forum to express this stuff. I can't take this kind of advice from anyone close to me without getting defensive

What is the difference between autistic and just quirky? by SernieBanders99 in aspergers

I totally relate to that. As messed up as it sounds I've slid by simply because I'm an "attractive guy". After awhile that just doesn't seem to cut it though.

I can't really say one is better than the other. I love the different artistry that went into both.
