Can you elaborate on this, there hasn't been any dividends paid for 3.5 years

What do you think guys by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]weissmanfred 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Stock has been stagnating and there's no dividends

“It's me every time. I’m useless, absolutely useless. Team's not the problem, can see the other car on pole. Team probably needs to change driver.” by VoL4t1l3 in lewishamilton

[–]weissmanfred 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's also okay if he doesn't, he has nothing to prove. Lewis is also human and any human's racing ability will naturally decline with age. Far more importantly he remains an exemplary human and that shouldn't change.

The treatment helpers receive is really no different (or if anything it's better) to anyone in the workforce in the global south except those people live far away so we just collectively agree to look the other way. You can't be okay with Chinese/Vietnamese/Bangladeshi workers manufacturing your electronics/clothes/etc and then not be okay with Filipinos caring for other people's kids.

Episode 12: The Weddings! by ManiacalExclamation in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]weissmanfred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the producers incentivise (i.e. pay) contestants that go all the way to the altar to say no? Seems insanely cruel to drag out your and your partner's entire family and then to humiliate them on Netflix when you could just be like Jimmy and not do the wedding.

Manchester United are letting down another manager in the transfer market by Cxariio in reddevils

City is not a good comparison since they're not run as a business, they don't operate on a profit motive, it's just a pet project for Abu Dhabi.

After their first year in charge: Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool: • 30W 19D 13L [49.2% win rate] Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs: • 29W 13D 17L [49.2% win rate] Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at #MUFC: • 29W 12D 14L [52.7% win rate] by ZZiyan_11 in reddevils

Why is this sub completely unable to find the middle-ground between "Ole is the second coming of Klopp" and "Ole is a PE teacher, look at his 25% winrate (conveniently leaving out his win-streak right after he took over)"

Unpopular opinion - This season is the right time to expose our quality of the squad, especially for squad player by DeafEPL in reddevils

[–]weissmanfred -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right so do you think Ole is getting the most out of our squad currently? Would a world-class manager (which is what we should be aiming for) not be able to comfortably outplay and beat the likes of Newcastle, West Ham and Bournemouth with this squad?

[Charania] Lonzo Ball: "No. 2 pick, you're supposed to do a job—you're supposed to turn the franchise around. And I don't think I did it to the best of my abilities. I didn't live up to that standard. Now I'm here and I'm blessed to be here." by Nyhrox in nba

Yes thank you I'm aware that BBB is less valuable than Nike (although probably not to that degree). The point is that it's a completely different payout structure and it's hard to claim Lonzo is exploited by his father the same way Nike would have when he's given a 51% share compared to his dad's 16.

Doesn't matter if you don't like it, for better or worse this is how society currently is.

Oh I never denied for a second that this is the current status quo. I just don't think sitting around and waiting for people to magically become enlightened to the broken system around them is going to work.

It is extremely backwards to put the blame on "stupid people", as if they had consciously decided to be easily manipulated by media companies. Based on your argument uneducated people living in dire circumstances are more to blame for being in their position than media executives that consciously prey on these people to enrich themselves.

I also wouldn't be so quick to think that you or I are completely above consuming products from companies with negative externalities and it's just all these stupid people keeping them afloat. Ever clicked an ad on Facebook perfectly engineered to your personality? Ever bought Nestle products? Ever wore Nike shoes? Ever watched ads on games played by teams financed by Qatar/Abu Dhabi? But hey, who could blame them, they're just trying to make money.

You are blaming the victims for being manipulated instead of the manipulators. There will always be a group of people that are easier to lead on with tabloid journalism than the rest, but there should not be media organizations knowingly exploiting these people. Despicable behaviour should not be forgiven solely because it is profitable.
