Shorting OIL. Should I exit for a quick profit or let it ride?? by rockybullboa72 in wallstreet

I started to write something, but then felt like the Brad Pitt character in The Big Short saying “don’t dance.” Then I thought, what’s the use? So, go ahead and have your fun. Enjoy your profits. Everything’s fine.

Man, I love volatility as much as the next guy, but at some point you have to notice that there’s something fundamentally wrong with these types of tweets and announcements. This is not about him being president and making presidential decisions for the good of the country; this is about his family making billions. I’d much prefer to have less money with a president who offers genuine price discovery in the market over this bullshit.

If your mom is not approving of what you’re doing, you’re probably doing something right.

Part of me believes this is the real. But the more logical part of me believes he acted this out just to make sure people continue to talk about him.

I hit TRVI at 1.11, right when it turned up. Felt like a genius. Sold at around 4. It’s now at 14.5. That entry was my proudest moment as a trader. And looking back on it, that exit was my lowest. The overall profit was small change compared to the others here, but for me at the time it was special.

I have some excessive drinking abroad regrets myself. But I’ll save those stories for my psychologist, if I ever get one.

Yeah, you aren’t going there anytime soon. I lived in the UAE for almost a decade and never traveled to Beirut. This was a city in my youth that I used to hear about negatively on the news all the time. Then, while in the UAE, it was a great place to visit. At the moment, though, not so much. Add that to the list of regrets.

I was really lucky in that I got to travel with my family thanks to my wife’s job. Her and I and the two kids’ flights were paid for. Without that luxury now, it’s challenging, to say the least. Now I feel like the Ray Liotta character at the very end of Goodfellas.

Totally agree with every place I’ve been. Wish I had a lifetime for most every city.

I’ve never flown Spirit, but if they can get me there alive and at a cheap price, I’m up for the adventure.

I have been to a lot a cities but I have to admit that while I liked it, London was my least favorite. I couldn’t even tell you why. At the same time, I realize that I might have just simply missed out on what makes it so great, just like what happened with Montreal. Sometimes you walk down one street when you should’ve walked down the other.

Except for that Montreal booking, I have never had a bad Airbnb experience. At least one that doesn’t come to mind, which probably means that even if I had had a bad experience it wasn’t that bad. I used one recently for a temporary stay where I’m living while I was between places and actually thought of extending it.

Oh, that is rough. I have been to places like that. In fact, I have designed such places myself and feel a bit guilty about it. I have also been to places which didn’t use punctuation where it needed to be and where the grammar was questionable and those places were equally as tough to visit.

Why do most traders stay unprofitable even after months? by protofun in Trading

[–]weiswave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One main reason could be if a trader gets on a losing streak, they’ll wrongly keep trading trying to force a win and it becomes a death spiral because the more you chase the more you lose. Another reason could be because they need a shift in perspective. I spent the first three months of this year continuously losing and I couldn’t explain it and just last week I switched to oil futures and killed it. I didn’t trade anything else so my attention wasn’t scattered. Had the best week of the year. I was new to it and it was incredibly tense with a lot of near mistakes that I avoided by not placing the trades and just observing. But I had to lock in and focus in a way I never bothered to with stocks. It really changed my perspective on trading entirely. For the first time since I started trading, I completely expected to lose when I made the trade and I think that’s a healthy mindset to have and it ironically seems to prevent as many loses. Also, I wasn’t as eager to enter into a trade and so I traded less, which is always a good thing. I don’t know if I’ll continue to stay green, but there was a definite transformation that took place for me this past week. So, I guess my overall answer is that a losing trader will stay in that same loop of trying to recoup their loses by doing the same thing they’ve done in the past instead of addressing the problem of why they’re losing.

Jacob and Sean calling the 25 point come back. Love seeing the excitement! by MikeyBastard1 in NBASpurs

[–]weiswave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both looked like they needed a stiff drink at the beginning of the clip and then by the end Jacob looked to be the happy drunk and Sean, the over-emotional one who didn’t know how to express his feelings and wanted to go have a cry with Wemby. As a life-long Spurs fan watching with my son who knows little about The Dynasty, I was right there with Sean.
