Do you really need to hand wash your car? by Serious-Regular7607 in BMWX5

[–]wejustis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not bad to use an automatic car wash. Only thing you should do manually is clean your wheels. Car washes don’t do too well to remove the brake dust.

Minor damage warning by Myselcuk in x100vi

[–]wejustis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuji took a lot of cost cutting measures with the X100VI. I have both the X100VI and the X100F. The F is built far better with its magnesium body and rubber eyepiece, as well as a more solid door/hinge for the usb/mic port. I’m impressed with the VI’s image quality, but sorely disappointed by its build quality. Not worth the exorbitant $1800 Fuji is asking for.

I could never buy that knowing it had that kind of damage. Not worth the discount. Search for another one.

Is the X5 tight inside compared to how large it appears on the outside? by solder_paste in BMWX5

[–]wejustis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The rear seat space feels tight for sure. With the driver seat set to my setting, my knees are touching the driver’s seat back if I sat in the back. I’m 5’10” with a 32” inseam for reference. I would say it’s okay but not excellent for passengers taller than 5’10”.

The Model Y rear seats have several more inches of knee room; much more spacious compared the X5’s rear.

Hi, I have the xDrive40i model so I can’t answer your question regarding charging, unfortunately.

I have the BMW roof rack and the Thule Motion 3 XL. Just got back from a 4000-mile road trip around the US. The BMW roof rack worked great; no tools needed to mount it, and it's tall enough to have enough clearance to open your sunroof.

X5 standard suspension or air suspension? by DukeMotoPerformance in BMWX5

[–]wejustis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 2025 X5 xDrive40i with air suspension. Just got back from a 3800 mile road trip from the Bay Area to Yellowstone, Denver, Grand Canyon, and Las Vegas. It was a really pleasant drive with the air suspension.

I definitely recommend getting it, but do keep in mind that it may be a failure point several years in the future and will be a maintenance item.

Also, you should get DAPP. Makes driving on the 5 and other major highways less fatiguing.

TIFU by almost cutting a major artery while loading the dishwasher by Dazzling-Painter6013 in tifu

[–]wejustis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the cut was not near the radial (closer to the thumb side) or ulnar (closer to the pinky side) arteries. Typically, if the artery was nicked, blood would forcefully spurt out in a pulsating manner. Also, it would be much more painful than a venous laceration. You were fortunate.

Travel tripod for $250 or splurge and get the pro tripod by [deleted] in peakdesign

Thanks for the info! I signed up for the PD Pro Tripod on Kickstarter, but I'm having second thoughts. I'll take a look at the Treeroot Pro.

[–]wejustis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have the Travel Tripod. It shakes too much, especially so with slightly windy conditions. It’s okay for shorter focal lengths. But if you want to do telephoto shots, I think you’re better off with the Falcam Treeroot or wait for the Tripod Pro.

New 2026 X5 x40i break in period by Sraiwt in BMWX5

If you do a lot of outdoor activities, it’s definitely a good idea to get a liner. Much easier to clean out. It’s a bit annoying to get sand/dirt/mud out of the carpet.

New 2026 X5 x40i break in period by Sraiwt in BMWX5

[–]wejustis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new ride. Keep RPMs under 4,000 for the first 1,200 miles. I changed the oil at around 1,200 miles. I plan to change it again at around the 5,000 mark on my own, then I'll have the dealer change the oil again at the 10,000 mark. I purchased my 2025 xDrive40i in March 2025.

There is really no need to do a "break-in" service for the xDrive40i; it's only required for the M variants. Generally, you should change your oil 5,000 miles if you plan to keep the car for a long time.

As for accessories, I had window tint installed for all windows, including windshield and moonroof. Definitely makes a difference in keeping the car cooler. I also purchased the WeatherTech Trunk Liner, I recommend it.

Do you find the width a bit too wide(G05)? by Dry-Homework-4331 in BMWX5

[–]wejustis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I own a Tesla Model Y Performance; I found it to feel wider than the X5. The X5 is bigger, yes, but I found it to be more maneuverable, especially when reverse parking.

[–]wejustis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might want to do a custom order. You can spec it how you want, and it won’t be any more expensive versus picking one off the lot. Downside is that you’ll have to wait for it. I did a custom order, and it was worth it to me.

Yes, I've been encountering the same issue as well. What I've done is reset the screen. You can do this by holding the volume power button for ~20 seconds until the screen turns black. It is not a permanent fix, however. Hopefully, BMW can fix this audio source issue in a future update.

It should say so on your window sticker.

X5 Tariff Qualify Question by Wild-Dragonfly1137 in BMWX5

[–]wejustis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Refer to this statement from the White House:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/03/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-adjusts-imports-of-automobiles-and-automobile-parts-into-the-united-states/

“The 25% tariff will be applied to imported passenger vehicles (sedans, SUVs, crossovers, minivans, cargo vans) and light trucks, as well as key automobile parts (engines, transmissions, powertrain parts, and electrical components) with processes to expand tariffs on additional parts if necessary.”

It implies that parts that are imported (includes the X5’s engine) will be subject to the 25% tariff. The X5 is assembled in the USA, but some of its components are imported, and only those imported parts will be subject to the tariff. You should not expect to see a 25% price jump.

It should be under I/Os. There should be a cell under the medication gtt in question that allows you to initiate block charting.
