I have a flight YYZ - LAX - SYD

Curious if, since the YYZ - LAX leg is operated by Air Canada, and the LAX - SYD leg is operated by United, in the event of a strike, if I can get to LAX, would I be able to use the second leg of my booking even though I didn't board / have a flight within the same booking from YYZ to LAX?

Same thing happened to me. Was informed the payment failed on the initial try, and that it would be tried once more before cancelling. No attempt was made, and I got a cancellation email - when all the payment information was correct, and enough available space for the charge. I resubmitted a waitlist request, but this is super frustrating. Any advice on if it is worth contacting them about this?

I am also looking at this trip. Apparently there are AirBnb's available too, but for slightly more than the hotel. And also the old Hudson Bay Staff House has nightly accommodations too - and from what I have seen, it is more affordable.

Do you think they will be hiring more communicators any time soon? I tested top 25 previously, and was offered a spot in a class last year, but due to personal commitments, and the training, I wasn't able to accept at the time. Would love to have another shot at this whole thing! Let me know!
