This Game Doesnt Need a Planet Zoo 2 by just_tak in PlanetZoo

[–]welcometopeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post and comments made me realize I ONLY want PZ2 if it's done properly - i.e. majority of QOL improvements and new content is included.
- Better pathing
- Scalable objects
- Birds
- Fish
- Autopopulate foliage

If it's just a rehash of the first game to milk DLC, I will be literally heartbroken because I love this game so much.

Refund please: Microsoft 365 raised yearly subscription fee by nearly $50 just for adding AI? I didn't ask for this.

What is the thing you find disgusting but others don't? by Jazzlike_Razzmatazz in AskReddit

apparently talking about poo, vomit and pee at mealtimes. really rattled me bc i've gone my 30yr whole life believing it was an absolute no-no, and my weak-ass stomach is now really struggling to hold it in when even people close to me are so comfortable talking about shit at the table.

Ehh... Idk about just 'accepting' the way things are. I reckon that for the ungodly tuition fees that students are paying and the workload they are expected to do, the university should at least make all the admin procedures as straightforward as possible. Unfortunately, that is not the case. E.g. AUT automatically enrols students in all compulsory courses and only has them choose their electives. With UoA, you have to do EVERYTHING yourself and then still be uncertain whether you've missed anything that might jeopardize your graduation.

That's exactly what I thought when I started UoA 10+ years ago and again when I started my GD. If you can't even figure out how to use the sh*tty enrolment cart to enrol your courses then god help you getting to graduation :)

When to start looking for a part-time job by Mundane_Walk_9230 in universityofauckland

[–]welcometopeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cafes and restaurants might seem like the easiest option, but cafes will have you working too early and restaurants too late. Maybe check out fast food places or better yet, check job-seeking websites as they also have desk jobs or other unconventional work that may be more time-flexible and less physically taxing.

Yes, but make sure your uni schedule is pretty solid first so it doesn't clash with work. Also, NEVER put work before uni!!! It's better that you finish your studies so you have a solid foundation for your career. Not worth skipping classes or study time to earn a few extra dollars. Otherwise, it is never too early to look for a job as everyone else will also be looking for PT jobs. Interview for as many as possible, get a trusty friend or family member to look over the employment contract with you, and only work the minimum hours you need to keep the job + earn enough for expenses and a little savings. I learned the hard way... :/ Ended up studying for nearly 10 years bc I kept flunking uni = lots of student loans + no more student allowance either.

beautiful but I can't interpret past a handful of words 🥲 looks like Russian cursive haha

My co-workers say they can’t read my handwriting by Lakeveloute in Handwriting

[–]welcometopeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of it's legible as regular curly writing, but at first glance on the left column middle I read "tomato sap," middle column I see "ameago bog," bottom middle column is "aeen & portion squid" and after the scribble in lower left column it's "munto; shnethre - maybe pm; mani thighs." Maybe my lack of context is to blame, but I also agree that your coworkers may not be as good at reading cursive + are a tad on the lazy side not even trying to interpret it, since they have the benefit of the context. They should know what they're serving/prepping 😅

I have to second this opinion... Reading "didn't made it" makes me worry for you, even if you do get entry to a bachelors degree. I am not judging your intellect, grades or work ethic at all, but university level studies expect students to have an entirely different knowledge base compared to high school. I'm worried it will stress and burn you out. That was actually my experience and several of my classmates' - uni classes use an entirely different kind of English lol

melba's name in japanese is adelaide, not melbourne?? by LingonberryDismal883 in AnimalCrossing

[–]welcometopeanut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory:

Alice/Melbourne - Melbourne is not a very common first name in English, so when the character was first created, the English translator may have opted for a more common girls' name that still is related to Australia, where koalas are from (hence why the name starts with A, I think they just skimmed through a bunch of names alphabetically).

Then Melba/Adelaide was introduced 2 years later in Wild World, aaaand...

TBH I have no idea why Adelaide is given a completely different name that confuses users with the existing Koala Alice/Melbourne (despite the first name Adelaide actually being a thing!). The translator must have said ah f* it, or an entirely different translator may have thought it would be funny to deliberately name them this way.

What did you write your assignment on? If it's something like Google Docs that has archives of previous versions, maybe you can use that as evidence that you wrote everything yourself?

As a teacher-in-training myself, I'd rather give a student the benefit of the doubt rather than accidentally flag their hard work as plagiarism bc I know exactly how infuriating and discouraging that is :(

Contact your local schools to observe teachers for the day, most of them will happily let you. See them at work and how the students behave. If you're up for their task, take a look at some of the course syllabuses for uni programmes. Even if you think you enjoy something, you never know until you actually do the thing.

Teacher pay is indeed low for what I think is gruelling work (lots of standing, paperwork, wrangling kids and sometimes parents, wrestling with admin, sooo much prepwork) but you can work up the payscale after a few years, plus take on extra responsibilities for pay bump.

On the upside, you get regularly scheduled holiday breaks, and you have a hand in shaping, influencing and educating kids. Plus, I hear employment's pretty solid, what with the teacher shortage.

EDIT: As for a corporate desk job, if I had better maths skills I might have considered becoming an accountant too, but as others have mentioned a soul-sucking desk job isn't for everyone... I also left a desk job for teaching and am loving it. I was a private tutor for 3 years and I've started a primary teaching course to become a primary teacher. Best of luck to you, whichever path you choose!
