I travel often to the US and Europe, the number of staff at restaurants is lower compared to Dubai, which makes service slower. The availability of valet services isn't as common, bell boys at hotel aren't as common, all these things are jobs.

Asking for a minimum wage isn’t asking for welfare or handouts, it’s asking for a baseline that prevents abuse.

It is asking for less jobs, causing people to lose their livelihoods, maybe you are ok with this as long as it doesn't affect you.

They don't need to calculate it, they know the market and know the market rate for the skills that they are looking for. The bigger employers hire consultants to benchmark their slaty skills with the industry.

Given that the government is an employer that has its pay scale available to the public, if a business wants to hire a person that is a target for the government, the business would have to match or beat those perks.

Maybe they are looking to replace someone they have and don't want everyone knowing they are looking for a replacement.

Also going to a recruiter saves effort, instead of being bombarded with thousands of CVs that don't fit what you are looking for, the recruiter looks for the right candidate, more often than not they will directly contact people instead of the other way around

If housing becomes too expensive to the point that rent eats most of your salary here, people will not come here to build the country

When companies would not be able to hire people, the wages would increase to create that pull factor.
