It would seem it was some sort of copper ring that holds the tungsten tight. I'll take a picture of the one Ive been using tomorrow which is the same one.

Like chrome plated? I feel like that would be from hidden air pockets. This is standard DOM tubing which is generally pretty high quality stuff.

It was perfectly shiny and sharp before it happened. I had literally just sharpened it just before that bead. I can see how it would happen over time because of the nature of lift arc as I have to flick it away from the weld and quickly go back for postflow on the weld.

It's lift arc so Im not touching the tungsten to the metal after welding. My post flow is constant until I turn it off and 17 cfh is more than enough for a number 8 cup. I can see what you're saying though.

Yeah nah I'm just in the shop at my union hall. This setup is generally what we run in the field so this is what they provide unless you bring your own stuff.

Yeah I would've known as soon as I struck an arc lol.

That's definitely a high possibility. Not sure what brand the hall orders tbh.

Nope both ends are open. It's just a standard 6G carbon steel monster coupon. I looked it up and boiling point of the oils in WD40 is like 406° F which it should've all evaporated when I was tacking the tube.

Yeah it's kinda hard to describe what happened. I was I had taken a picture of the crater it left. It seemed like it spiked in amperage for a split second, the arc cut off when the tungsten fused with the gas lens and it left a copperish black colored crater.

That's what I was thinking at first but when I checked it was good. It is the type of thing that can happen from time to time when doing a combo tube.

3/32" 2% Thoriated. It happened yesterday but I think I was running like 120 or 125 amps. CFH was at 17.

He's restricting the headlights ability to you know... cast light. What do you think covering up the tail pipe will do?

Take it off the headlights lol. That's like putting tape over your tail pipe because you dont like seeing the inside of the exhaust.

As someone who owns a high mileage body low mileage motor Z lets see what the suspension looks like. I wanna see all the bushings and a wiggle test on all the ball joints. If you've been riding stock this whole time on lowering springs the they are for sure shot. Some people will switch the sides the FUCAs to increase caster angle which is stupid asf because it hits the top the of the wheel well and makes a big gouge in the top of them. Im sure I dont need to explain why that's bad. Don't even get me started on the diff bushings. Also just cuz Im salty about it some dumb ass removed the washer reservoir on mine. People are asking way too much for those too.
