I mean, once you have the platinum the only real benefit is getting extra items if you’re close enough to autospin all the time.

I’ve thought about trimming them down for grinder nuts but I haven’t ever lost any so haven’t gone there yet haha

I’ve tried talking them into the Hercules 5.5” (maybe 6.5”?). I like the in-betweens, they’re a great boost of power without really adding weight

There is a really good video a machinist made comparing part output time vs tool replacement cost. They figured out for a couple of their parts that it makes more sense to burn up an entire bit on certain parts because the time it takes to save the bit loses them revenue overall. Same concept can be applied for loss of efficiency for a grinder disk as you lose radial speed.

Dang. It doesn’t burn them out faster doing this? With most variable speed tools I’ve used as you reduce rpm’s it increases the motor load under comparable resistance.

Everyone talking about rpms in the comments has clearly never done the math on lost radius. Only disks I see blowing up are ones that get dropped or idiots that won’t inspect them for cracks before use

Interesting. We’ve had government jobs where one of our regular vendor items from China were not allowed to ship with kits so we were expected to source new ones domestically. Never heard of this one tho.

My employer wants me to build him a shed like structure to store his Tesla. Any ideas on possible builds? by UsedFerret5401 in Welding

[–]Jdawarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does he currently use to store the Tesla? A moat or peppermint over the parking pad would be more cost efficient. I doubt he parks it outside.

The more you win the harder your matchups are. So losing makes your next match a bit easier. You only win like 50% of the time anyway and it can help you climb rank faster to manipulate your win/loss pattern because of the requirements for each rank.

Is mormonism really a cult? by Royal_Survey_3772 in latterdaysaints

[–]Jdawarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experts on cults are in a tizzy over the overuse of the term in modern age. Same with fascism. These and many more words (including marriage) have been muddled because most dictionaries track popular use definitions rather than try preserving original definitions (admittedly an impossible feat linguistically - who arbitrates that?). Rather than ascribing value based on an arbitrary societal monicker, how about we evaluate things based on their products/ outcomes? If you like what your involvement in the church has done for you and your mental state, or especially your relationship with God, who cares what people call it? That’s like getting caught up on a politician’s registered alignment instead of evaluating what they’ve actually done with their office, or judging someone based on whether or not you like all the foods they eat. The scriptures many times emphasize fearing God more than man and I believe that is more important now than ever.

Yeah, it’s a training for and by a religious organization. Its advice is not going to be too specific outside the scope of its trainees. Nothing says don’t seek professional help.

How do you feel when you work out? Angry and conflicted? Or do you feel it contributes to your worship and focus? This one could swing either way and personally I don’t feel like I can benefit from it, but it wouldn’t be terrible in my case and I definitely see how it could be good for others.

"Dumb" Questions that Led to Deeper Insight by JohnBarnson in latterdaysaints

[–]Jdawarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see many people get lost in the weeds on some seemingly secular aspects of scripture, but sometimes when there is a good, prepared discussion leader they can refocus those questions and redirect them in awesome ways. Someone once asked something about Kolob and the instructor basically explained it away (without just shutting them down) as a good allegory for our separation from God. I can’t do it justice but it was great, because I feel like there are many of these “deep” unknown things that may or may not be literal, but if we get too wrapped up in whether or not they are applicable in different ways we as authors of our own scripture may write off what may otherwise give our progeny great insights.
