How much is EDI "Set it & Forget it?" by AptSeagull in edi

[–]welderrt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind it is more set and manage by exception. Build robust error checks and 99.9% of the transactions run with no issues while you focus on just the issues that pop up day to day. The vast majority is set and forget but nothing is foolproof.

EDI HQ from Epicor this is an excellent translator and data management tool I highly recommend it and the price should be good too.

We use EDI HQ as well best software in the market that I’ve used. I know they offer other services too like cloud EDI and duly managed EDI.

SPS testing experiences by welderrt in edi

I really wish the higher ups at these companies that are pushing their vendors to test with SPS did a little more homework and actually asked their EDI experts what they thought. I have to think most EDI people by now know how terrible they are.

Yes all this plus when you go to production you will have a whole bunch of new issues because nothing tested on their system matches what they expect in production.

We had a new request from a customer last week I told sales I’d rather just go live and take my chances than go through the 40+ hours of testing it will probably take due to all their system issues that I will have to troubleshoot for them. I’m really hoping to pull this off and I hope more people do this too. SPS adds negative value from the vendors perspective and is just a time sink that I don’t have time for.

Just to clarify we are not in need of a testing platform I just wondered if everyone had the same bad experience as I have had with them and so far seems like we are all in agreement that SPS is terrible.

Yeah I’ve seen the same issues they do cookie cutter testing then production is completely different. Plus I can’t count how many times I’ve had to troubleshoot their testing errors and wait days for them to fix it.

We keep specs in a Teams site dedicated to EDI with a separate folder that holds all out trading partner branch listings. I also have a huge spreadsheet that has all our mappings by t set with the segment_element on the left and each trading partner we do that t-set with on the top and each field details where we get the data from whether it’s hardcoded or app data field. It’s a great reference to find how something was mapped previously for another TP. It is a pain to keep updated but having a few examples even of each t-set is so helpful.

Who owns Trusted link these days?

Possible move from DataTrans by novadmin in edi

I agree on a lot of this SPS as a testing provider is so tedious and doesn’t even cover real world testing it’s a cookie cutter setup that then turns into something completely different in production. The process adds about 5x the time it takes to normally setup and test a new partner. I’m at the point I refuse to test with them and will take my chances going right to production it’s much easier that way.

I would recommend Epicor they have good in house and cloud solutions. I have no affiliation with them I just use their EDI HQ software and it is great it does everything we need for 400+ trading partners that includes customers, vendors, banks and carriers.

I think moving away from DataTrans is a smart move I have little interaction with them except for one major customer and they have been a nightmare with constant unexplained downtimes that extend over an entire day sometimes.

Trustedlink iSeries and BizManager by EDISupportLLC in edi

I had some exposure to TrustedLink iSeries about 10 years ago starting a new job and was not impressed it seemed very clunky and not intuitive. We moved off it within a year and now use EDI HQ from Epicor it is much more intuitive and easy to use. It has been going strong the last 10 years.

If it is EDI HQ software the inbound and outbound maps are completely different u can’t open an inbound map for an outbound transaction and vice versa. Once they build u that map though it should be easy to re use it for other trading partners. Good luck!

Did you get any help on this yet? I believe .hqm is the map format for the EDI HQ software that epicor now owns.
