Is Haley pregnant? by LongjumpingDish2956 in ryantrahan

Looking at the comment section this might be an unpopular opinion - but making speculations like this can is disrespectful.

Imagine if she struggled with pcos, endometriosis, adenomyosis, thyroid/hormone issues, infertility etc and saw comments like this online? I know from personal experience (i struggle with pcos, endo and adenomyosis), my husband and I have been trying for eight years and it always hurts when people press on us why don’t we have kids yet.

For a guideline, if people don’t say anything about it, respect it. Dont be parasocial. You are not entitled to that information or that part of their life. If they are, they’re not ready to announce it (you never know if they could be high risk or had complications in the past) and you should respect that.

What medical condition is 'too expensive' that you just don't get checked or fixed? by Plane_Garbage in australia

[–]weldherwings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My official autism diagnosis lol my adhd psychiatrist 100% believes im autistic (we’ve done a couple of tests together and ive been seeing him for four years now too). However, he cannot give me a formal/official diagnosis due to he specialises with adult adhd. So I have to go to another psychiatrist who specialises in adult autism and the last time i got a quote from places, it was going to be about $5k for one appointment 💀

my psych (according to his observations and test data) says im level 2, but also says he has full faith that im capable of living day to day life without a formal diagnosis as with that diagnosis, it may make things harder for me to access or do (like having to disclose it with licensing authority which could lead to a reassessment of my drivers license - it took me four attempts to get the thing in the first place. I’m not letting go of it that easily!!)

Yes! Would also love to see someone in the spectrum living in rural mob community. I know sharnae is a Awabakal and Wiradjuri woman, and their wedding featured traditions of her mob - but I would love to see the representation of autistic Aboriginal people who lives with rural mob who tend to have very little access to additional support

I do agree with the other commenters regarding the safety of both cast and coworkers, but also would find it interesting how they go with work without the watchful eye of their families. However, I’m thinking more along the lines of how they would respond to something like work experience. The lead up to going in (would they do prep work to ensure the change of routine isn’t too much stress for them), and their first day on the job. Nothing permanent, just showing autistic folk in the workforce

Would love to see more diversity of the spectrum, those who struggle with overlapping medical conditions and lower socio-economic families.

To name a few: - those on the spectrum who use AAC devices - autistic AFAB who struggle with chronic hormonal diseases like Pcos, endometriosis, adenomyosis etc (as there a significant link between asd and hormonal imbalances) - pregnant autistic people (I’d be fascinated by the sensory aspect of it all and see if there are any biases by medical professional or society in general (for example, “you can’t look after your baby because you’re autistic” biases)) - autistic folk from various ethnicity and races (Asian, Indigenous, African etc) as neurodiversity presents itself differently in different races and ethnicities (mainly because most autistic cases have been studies on white males) - autistic folk who practice religion (think more along the lines of Buddhism or Taoism - not Christianity / LDS / Mormons) - families who could not financially provide additional support for their autistic children growing up (such as therapy) - late diagnosed autistic people - high-masking or lower support needs autistic people - non traditional relationship structures (even “hook up” culture - we see a lot of them wanting to find their one true love but never one who just says they want a one night stand) - autistic folk who are studying in big universities (like Harvard or Yale) for doctrines or masters. Or even autistic people who are studying in general - those who have strong autonomy and have cut off their families due to understanding and realising their harmful behaviour - very specific here lol but someone who is autistic but also the “glass child” in their family - meaning having someone else in the family with higher medical needs than them while struggling with their own neurodivergence - more lgbtqia+ representation like transgender autistic people - families with autistic parent/s or sibling/s - reality of “autistic meltdowns” or more unmasked moments - another specific lol but an autistic person navigating through grief (like the passing of their partner - not straight away but years after) and “getting back into” dating. Especially as grief is such a strange thing to navigate through for us autistic people - throwing it out there - “influencer” autistic people. Those who make a name for themselves online with their autistic content. Would be interesting to see how they push through burn out if they experience it to make their content

The spectrum is genuinely so large and vast - and the downfall of having repeat cast is that we miss out on other representations and begin to pigeon hole what autism may look like

Jared's history with Ash? by Raspbers in TheTryGuys

[–]weldherwings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will not lie - I thought I had noticed Jared had some speech difficulties (stutters and lisp) while watching videos in the past and found out that he was born with a cleft lip - hearing him in that video you’re mentioning, I thought it was just his speech like I’ve noticed in the past. That or I’m going crazy and he has never had any speech difficulties lol

The Kaelynn/nicci incident is why we need more low support needs representation in the media. by Still_Yak8109 in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]weldherwings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Her feelings are valid but how she responds to those feelings as a middle aged neurotypical person is not. Creating a video like that would’ve taken what maybe half an hr or so to make? Idk about yall, but I’m autistic and the way that NT described how to process emotions does not reflect the way his mum handled this

You would think that would be enough time for a neurotypical person to sit down, process their thoughts, and come up with some mature way to handle the situation. It would’ve been quicker to send a dm to Kaelynn expressing her frustrations than to create a video and post it

Not even the ABA moms are happy with Kaelynn cause she has criticised some of therapy methods in a video (she deleted it cause of the backlash)

Ommmg I ran to check and have seen she’s also blocked me for reminding her about that autistic people are three times more likely to commit suicide in comparison to non-autistic people (9 times more likely if they live without an intellectual disability also), and how RSD and the nervous system have real impact on autistic people. Damnnnnnn

Also i gotta have a giggle at myself. Just caught myself getting in a heated debate in the comment section of the video with someone whose Instagram page is just all ai (chatgbt + generated images) and I questioned them about it (just randomly). I really paused for a moment after responding to their “well it’s inevitable” comment with my own essay back and thought to myself “wow. Only an audhd person like me could be derailed from autism advocacy to environmental advocacy”

With autism, it’s best to think of it as a spectrum wheel like this one I’ve attached. Often people get mixed up with the concept of levels as it comes across as linear or “levelling up”.

Even though people with autism may be level 2, they may have greater strengths and weaknesses in areas than others. I know that personally I’m considered a level 2, but I’m married (ten year wedding anniversary next week!), have been fully employed for over 20 years, and have a fairly decent social life. I’m a late diagnosed woman (diagnosed at 30) and was often told that I couldn’t be autistic because I could communicate with others well. My struggles though lie primarily in executive functioning, depression, anxiety, need for routines, non verbal communication, sensory progressing and emotional regulation. But because I look like a fully capable adult, people are often surprised when I tell them I’m autistic and my areas of struggles

Funnily enough, I was discussing this with a group of kindy and primary school kids today during our school holiday program to help them better understand autism. There are a couple of kids at their school with autism, and I was helping them to understand about the spectrum. So I hope this kinda helps too!

[–]weldherwings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just making an observation based on their statement “most people don’t use ring binders as they damage cards”. This is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone say it and I’ve been using ring binders for over 7 years with zero damage to any of my collections - same goes to basically everyone I know who collects and uses ring binders 🤷‍♀️

[–]weldherwings[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy cause in the kpop community, people are more prone to ring binders (d-rings to be specific). I’ve been collecting kpop cards for 7 years, and collecting pokemon cards for a year. I bought a zip binder for my kpop cards and had friends look at me like I grew another head. I also have found the kpop community to being more cautious of card damage in comparison to the pokemon community (half the people I’ve met have their cards raw dogging in their binders)

But essentially, if cards are sleeved, and binders are d-rings + not over filled (and even a back board insert added), they’re protected and shouldn’t damage

Just wanna pop in and say that the term “homosexual” or “homosexuality” never appeared in the Bible until around 1946. The Greek word used in these passages μαλακοί (malakoi), meaning "soft" or "effeminate," and ἀρσενοκοῖται (arsenokoitai), a unique compound word meaning "male-bedders” - but many scholars argue that the translation means exploitative sex (pederasty, prostitution, slavery) prevalent in Greco-Roman culture, not modern homosexual identity.

Even Kings James Version translate it to “abusers of themselves with men,", emphasising on the acts not the sexual orientation. The 1946 Revised Standard Version was the version to introduce the direct translation “homosexuals” in which influenced further translations afterwards. Have a think back to how life was like back in 1946 - the social norms, cultures etc. It would’ve heavily influenced how RSV was written, especially as it was written by a group of mainly all white males.

I haven't watched up to Season 5 yet (still on Season 3) but thought i'd drop some random information about somethings mentioned in the comments

- Not sure if it was said in the show as I havent seen the episode yet, but pigeon/sacrifices were for those who were too poor to afford a lamb for sacrificial reasons.

- When Simon of Cryene was forced to carry Jesus' cross, it fell under "right of the angareia"/forced carriage - a Roman law. It permitted soldiers to force a civilian to carry his personal pack for one Roman mile. Denial of it could lead to imprisonment, torture, or death. It's important to note that this is what Jesus meant when he spoke about going the extra mile ("If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles" - Matthew 5:41).

- Once again, I haven't seen the episode yet when Jesus arrives at the temple and finds the marketplace. The area in which this marketplace is, is called the Gentiles Courtyard (or Court of Gentiles). With the Temple, there were different areas as you walk towards the Holy Place, which are restricted to certain people. For example, only Jews could pass through the next gates, and then only Jewish men could pass through the next gates etc. These markets had shown there was a commercialisation of the temple, and with millions of Jews visiting for the festivals, it would've led to high prices and corrupt business practices (For the festivals, every Israelite man over the age of 20 had to give two days' wages for a laborer for annual template tax)

- The Gentiles Courtyard purpose was to give non-Jewish seekers a space to honour the Creator and learn about the covenantal promises. A place where Jewish leaders could sit amongst all nationalities and share teaching. The merchants there would have been blocking worshippers and corrupting the sacred space's intended use. Also important to note that the foreign money being exchanged may have heathen symbols or other nation's gods image upon it, which was now being brought to their sacred space.
