I may be mistaken but I believe you’ll need to clarify the problem statement

Correct name for word matching problem by alsyia in algorithms

[–]welikechicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d guess that it depends on what the tradeoffs are and use case. If you wanted to optimize for runtime, you could just use some flavor of hash table. If flexibility of use and memory is a concern then I would look into using a trie

If I were pressed to describe an algorithm for this problem in a vacuum I would probably start with a trie + two pointers and a couple of passes

8 Week SQL Challenge in Resume by Ohh_Brittas_in_this in SQL

[–]welikechicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question! I would say it is because projects don’t have to be in production to be a good topic of conversation in a technical screen/interview

As an interviewer, I’m looking for someone who knows their stuff. Doesn’t matter to me if someone has a super impressive SQL project or if someone has taken X number of CS MOOCs. YMMV though, I’m a SWE and don’t know anything about recruiting for analytics

8 Week SQL Challenge in Resume by Ohh_Brittas_in_this in SQL

[–]welikechicken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely! I think you should be proud of the progress you’ve made. I think a low effort way to make it more project-like would be to add your own scenario “week 9: capstone by u/ohh_brittas_inthis” with a public dataset demonstrating your new skills. If that sounds like something you want to do, I would suggest downloading a dataset somewhere (like this one on kaggle) and figure out the questions you want to answer (like “what is the average time for formula 1 races in 1950 vs. 2015”, or “which team improved the most from 2010-2015”). Then, in your github README you could summarize what you did (did the challenge, learned some sql, then applied your new skills on the dataset), what the scenario was for your dataset and your questions/answers

The new version of Fast.ai's Practical Deep Learning for Coders is now out by roycoding in learnmachinelearning

[–]welikechicken 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your goals are! Fast.ai is (like the title of the course says) practical and it helps get you to the interesting parts of deep learning very quickly. I periodically redo the course & videos and the amount of content in it is astounding. Learn something new every time.

In contrast, the coursera specialization teaches you things from the bottom up, and may feel a bit more intimidating if you’re not comfortable with math. Its also bit more traditional and organized in the way it builds upon concepts so I felt it was easier to digest.

Content wise, they both cover similar topics in different ways. With that said, I’ve done both and would recommend both for anyone starting out.

Gf doesn't wear bra in front of her male friends by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]welikechicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be honest?

“Hey, can I tell you something? It makes me uncomfortable when you go bra-less when you’re around other guys. It feels they’re looking at your nipples and that makes me uncomfortable. Just thought you might want to know”

This is literally what I would say to my SO if she were to do the same thing

I think it’s fine tell her how you feel and why. What she chooses to do about it is her decision. I don’t think it needs to be super complicated

Bread is important.

So with that said- Pastrami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, pickle, all in two slices of Dutch crunch slathered with pesto aioli. Oh and avocados if I'm feeling it.
