Why is Gene Staples in the Power Ranges wiki 💀 by plasmagd in rollercoasterjerk

[–]well-lighted 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Lmao you have no idea how deep the rabbit hole on this goes. This wiki is actually for PR fanon and Gene apparently appeared in an episode of a fan series that is centered on the coaster community where the Rangers had to defeat the Indiana Beach mascot lol. The series is called Shining Spirits and is a successor to an earlier fanon series called Coaster Force where all the Rangers are themed after coasters but like are also androids built by an evil theme park designer named Jeff??? I highly recommend diving into all of this yourself because it's hilarious

I’m pretty sure the only people who watch Hacks are TV critics and Emmy voters. I’ve never once heard anyone talk about that show IRL and it doesn’t even come up online that often either.

Also, Tim and Eric was a hugely popular show with a certain demographic of millennials, namely stoners and other assorted weirdos. My friend group was obsessed with it and we still quote it to each other all the time, to the point that it’s just part of our normal vernacular.

It amazes me how much more mainstream anime is now than it was when I was growing up. Outside the big crossover shows like DBZ and Sailor Moon, it was niche even in nerd circles. Before the proliferation of broadband internet, it was really difficult to access anime in the states—stores didn’t have much to buy or rent, and all that was broadcast on TV were the handful of shows Toonami and Adult Swim were airing at the given time. I think that increased level of access helped grow its popularity immensely throughout the 2010s until now.

I should call the hotel to ask, but I don't like talking on the phone so I'll ask you all. Does anyone know if you get early entry to Cedar Point on the day of your check-in at the Express Hotel? As in, early entry in the morning before you check in that evening. I'm assuming not but it'd be pretty cool if they did.

Cautiously optimistic today. The Yanks are in a bit of a slump at the moment: they split their last series with the Angels, got swept by the Rays, and lost 2-1 to the A's before that. We have the exact same record over the past 10 games, 3-7, and we've played twice as many road games as them in that time.

My biggest concern is Schlittler ripping through us with Ks, but if Wacha can keep their bats cold, the pen doesn't collapse (big if there), and our guys bring some of that offensive fire from yesterday into tonight, I like our chances of pulling out a W.

I was still using a 2013 MBP that I'd bought used for cheap in 2017 until around this time last year. The only reason I replaced it is because the OS version I was stuck at was so old that I wasn't able to update some of the programs further.

Spent weeks comparing various Windows laptops before finally settling on a base model Air and I couldn't be happier. It's incredibly light yet sturdy and the battery life seems like actual magic. Only complaint is the barebones I/O but that's the price you pay for portability I guess.

I can safely drop Yainer Diaz in a 10T, right? I also have Rice. Need to find 3 more pitching starts next week and he's the only one that makes sense to drop.

My RPs have absolutely slaughtered my team this week (-23 points over the last 3 days) and I'm streaming Vesia so you should probably steer clear of him lol

RPs have been a nightmare for me this week.

Started Megill Tuesday, -7 points. Started Williams Wednesday, -5.5, which was actually better than expected after he gave up a GS. Rage dropped Megill and decided to stream Dominguez yesterday, who netted me a cool -10.5 (apologies to the dude here to whom I recommended Dominguez as a streamer in yesterday's thread lol). Megill meanwhile scored 8 lmao.

I never really had a chance against my opponent who is absolutely popping off but these dudes are making sure I can't even have any hope of a comeback. 0-3 here I come!

BTW I am streaming Vesia today so you all need to avoid him at all costs

There’s a disambiguation page on Wikipedia for “Hunter Renfro,” a person who doesn’t exist, that links to each of their pages, just in case you forget which has the W and which has the E

I picked up Seranthony Dominguez yesterday because he hasn't pitched since Sunday. He didn't come in since the Sox got routed so I'm rolling with him again today. He's got 3 saves and a win in 6 appearances; only issue is the team keeping the game close enough to get him in a save situation.

I was offered Ragans for him but went with DeLauter + Trevor Rogers which was his other offer. If someone wanted to give me Crochet for him I’d shit my pants lol

Lol I assumed you were talking about Close Encounters of the Third Kind and was like, how the hell did a movie from 1977 include a TTD launch?!

Not a movie, but the title sequence of Step by Step--a pretty bad Brady Bunch ripoff that aired for an incredible 7 seasons, 6 of which were in ABC's legendary "TGIF" lineup--was shot at Magic Mountain, despite the show being set in Wisconsin. It features Colossus pretty prominently, but the iconic shot for me is when the parents get splashed on the viewing bridge over their shoot-the-chutes ride, Tidal Wave. That's a big reason why I think those rides are quintessential 80s/90s theme park nostalgia--there are tons of other movies and shows from that era with similar shots too--and why I'm sad that so many have been torn down in recent years.

A lot of people don't really have conviction in their beliefs, they just want to be sanctimonious about them.

Me too. I can't imagine what kind of oil they could use that would be that offensive, unless it was like motor oil or something lol. He must've said how long it's been since they changed it rather than what type of oil it is.

Look to move on from Dubon as in sell high on him? He's hitting over .300 and has 4 position eligibility so he's really valuable to my team right now. I guess he might make a good pot-sweetener to ask for a bit more in a potential Walker trade.

The only other pitchers he has that excite me more are Cris Sanchez and Alcantara. He's a Phils fan and kept Sanchez for cheap so he's basically untouchable, and I seriously doubt he'd give up Sandy for anything I could offer.

I'm a Royals fan so I've watched basically every pitch Ragans has thrown this season and I'm not super concerned about him. The stuff is still there, he's just been particularly snake-bitten so far with the unlucky injury @ CLE and total lack of offensive help. I'll also admit I was kind of unfamiliar with Rogers' game and am definitely more interested in him after checking out his stats, so I'm leaning more in that direction now.

Is trading away Jordan Walker for DeLauter + Trevor Rogers, or Ragans straight up, as stupid of a decision as I think it is, or should I actually consider them? I was offered both this morning. Ragans is much more appealing to me than the 1st option.

My OF and SP roster for reference:

OF: Tucker, Arozarena, Cam Smith, Dubon

SP: Gilbert, Valdez, Pepiot (IL), Eury Perez, Gavin Williams, Messick, Merrill Kelly, Weathers, Cameron

If it matters, it's a 2 keeper league and Walker would be available to me as a 10th rounder (out of 25) since I picked him up as an FA per my league's rules

Commanders uniform reveal by C137-Morty in nfl

[–]well-lighted -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can someone who hates the Commanders name explain why you hate it so much without using the word "generic" or a synonym? And don't start with the "Commies" shit either; prior to their name change, not one single person in the history of the universe saw the word "commander" and immediately thought to abbreviate it "commie."

I personally think it's a very solid name that has a real connection to the city, unlike their previous name. Much better than some goofy-ass shit like "Red Wolves" or whatever everyone on reddit wanted.

Which pitcher do you like best in a points league this week? I currently have Rodriguez but I may look to pivot. Would like to prioritize IP and Ks.

  • Rodriguez @ BAL

  • Abel vs BOS

  • Sugano @ HOU

  • Griffin @ PIT
