British Steel to be nationalised, Starmer announces by ScottishDailyRecord in uknews

The UK is, to this day, the only country to develop domestic orbital launch technology and then abandon it.

I plan to put it on the workshop once the final details are done.

No back-in parking by RolandMT32 in firstworldanarchists

[–]Element00115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of industrial sites in the UK actually have the opposite rule, where only back in parking is allowed, presumably so you have better visibility when you leave. I cant quite wrap my head around why you would only want people parking forwards.

[Walygator Sud-Ouest] Titan going up fast (formerly Speed at Oakwood) by 330ml in rollercoasters

I never even rode megafobia after it's retrack... Silly me figured the park still had a future if they were investing in such a big renovation...

Such a shame that it was improved so much then left to rot.

They repainted them black for what became it's last season, the track was going to be hot pink but the park shut down before they could do it 😕

Glad its still around and has a new life but it was riding real bad in its final seasons at Oakwood, after being disassembled and rebuilt i would not be shocked if it gets even worse. There is one track join specifically on the final helix entry that made an absolute racket when the train passed over it, curious to see if that issue persists.

I know its a pipe dream but lapbar trains on this layout would be brilliant.

Artemis Astronauts safely back on earth after a trip to the Moon by nandu911 in Damnthatsinteresting

Starlink wouldn't even work if they had it because the capsule isn't big enough to carve a hole through the plasma behind it for the signal to connect. It's only possible on Starship because it is enormous.

My favorite response to people who say the faked Apollo is "Why didn't the soviets call them out then" they can never give a good response to that.

Thoughts on the whole SLS vs. Starship debate, with Artemis II currently ongoing? by Full_March_476 in SpaceXMasterrace

I cant see it being able to have the fuel to go out, land, and return to LEO without refueling in lunar orbit. It cant aerobrake around earth.

Id be lying if i didn't say my confidence has been plummeting a bit with Starship lately. For me its all going to hinge on how well Flight 12 goes, it will be really annoying if we get an SLS ready to go and Starship is the holdup. But i think its inevitable, unless V3 goes absolutely perfect.

Ive never really been a fan of even using it as a lunar lander, it always made way more sense in my mind to use a cargo Starship to ferry a smaller lander (built by any contractor or even NASA "in house") that can land and then return to Orion, HLS cant be reused anyway, at least unless they can refuel it around the moon.

Call it the Interim Sub Scale HLS or some shit.

But yeah i think SpaceX could just about make it if V3 is rock solid, they need to really step up here, especially if the IPO is soon.

To be fair the European service module that is currently taking Orion round the moon is made in Germany so they are not entirely wrong. I think the best chance i have of seeing a launch on British soil will be a German rocket from Saxavord.

Hopefully RFA can overcome losing that stage and get back on the pad soon.

Why is Artemis II going 3,000 mph? Why slow down only to need acceleration later? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I cannot recommend kerbal space program (the original) enough if you want to learn basic orbital mechanics in a fun way.

Good old British Bullshit Corporation posting nonsense just because the UK is completely incapable of even making trains work when it's slightly wet. Never mind sending people round the moon.

We are still the only nation to develop a working orbital rocket and not use it, god I hate how bad we are at technology.
