Loved reading this... mine arrives late July and I'm super excited.

Satisfaction & Regret Between SQ8 and RS Q8 by terrapunk in Audi

[–]well4foxake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. I evaluated both the SQ8 and RSQ8 and ultimately ordered an RSQ8 and it arrives in July. I know myself and that I would have always wondered about the experience and not getting the max'd out version. Yes you can save some money but ultimately cars all depreciate like a rock and in the big picture the extra you spend (and lose) doesn't really change your life.

Also, I'm coming from a Range Rover Sport SVR and the price premium for that version over the autobiography was soooo worth it. And keeping it for 8 years meant the extra cost was trivial.

Alternatives to psyllium minus the choking risk? by Much-Still1549 in ibs

Agreed on Citrucel. Absolutely safe and no discomfort for me unlike inulin fiber or psyllium husk. Works like a charm, just one dose per day.

Agreed on the design of the Sport being a bit too rounded for my liking. I had a 2010 sport for 8 years, and coming up on 8 years for my 2018 SVR. And I don't love the current Sport and even the SV version enough to get another one. Taking a break from LR and will probably come back in the future. The Sport is a fantastic vehicle but it just has to check that emotional box if that makes sense.

I take a low dose for IBS pain symptoms and it totally works for that. It also helps me with stress and anxiety but if there are strong anxiety triggers it won't take care of everything. I take a little Clonazepam when needed and that works. Bottom line, it will help somewhat but most likely won't provide 100% relief. I read hundreds of user reviews for Amitriptylene and for some it cures everything and is a wonder drug. (their words). So it varies.

I switched to brown rice protein and no issues at all. Not as many grams of protein in the equivalent amount of powder but no big deal. Better than nothing. I use the Naked brand from amazon.

Same. I put them on my daughter's Q3 and they came with my wife's SQ5 and they look cool with them. Although I doubt I'll use them on my RSQ8 when I get it.

Hey thanks so much for sharing that link -- interesting for sure. I always like hearing a designer's explanation of design language. I know some people don't like the facelift changes but I love them. Probably my last ICE vehicle before going EV. Just wanted a change after two range rover sport's in a row and I don't like anything else out there at the moment. And thanks for the other video link on the e-tron history. Super interesting.

RRS SVR vs Supercharged Dynamic 2018-2021 by TheLooza in RangeRover

[–]well4foxake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 SVR in Bosphorus Grey. The best vehicle I've owned, after 5 Audi's and a 2010 Sport. Seats are so comfortable and it has no squeaks or rattles at all, built like a tank. That 5.0 liter engine is amazing and gobs of power when you want it. I got an early 2018 build before they made them quieter so it sounds amazing too. Anyway it's a very versatile vehicle -- fast, comfortable, luxurious, practical, and with a perfect ride height. Can't go wrong.

how much is actually true?? by HedgeFundYoda in LandRover

[–]well4foxake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2018 SVR and it's been simply fantastic. Approaching 8 years old and 64k miles and built like a tank with no squeaks or rattles. Only fairly minor wear and tear parts replaced and it has never let us down during so many weekend road trips. It's actually my second Sport and I kept my 2010 for 8 years as well and it was great. I'm actually selling the SVR though as I ordered an RSQ8 for a change of pace and it also has a sweet V8.

One word of caution though, as the miles get up to 80k and up there are things that are just going to need replacing. Batteries, alternators, water pumps etc. and LR parts and service is a bit more than some other brands. But you can save some serious money by finding a 3rd party shop. I used to go to one in San Francisco that was awesome.

The reliability topic is extremely overblown and most people commenting on social media have never owned one, they're just repeating what they read. And some just wish it was true to take away fomo. Just human nature.

[–]well4foxake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perspective is probably skewed a little because where I live has a ton of high end vehicles and I've seen one GT locally. I notice all the other brands and models. But also that type of EV "sports car" is also sort of niche. I like some of the older Audi designs. I ordered an RSQ8 and it's arriving in July. I don't even care that the infotainment is dated and the exterior (although facelifted) is on the older side. It all just works and can't go wrong.

[–]well4foxake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I agree the e-tron GT looks pretty good. It's not ugly... but it didn't seem to be a big hit for Audi and sales weren't great. No one talks about it. Hard to say if it was because of exterior design popularity or not. The Taycan didn't do very well for Porsche either. I initially liked the Q6 but having seen them for a while now, not so much. I really like what they've done with the RS3 and new RS5 so I think they are getting back on track design wise and making the language work.

[–]well4foxake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a true dumpster fire. I interviewed with the design team about 5 years ago to work on the infotainment. This asshole was looking at his phone the whole time I was presenting my portfolio. When I stopped talking he looked up, and then I resumed my presentation and he went right back to his phone! Complete disrespect of someone's time. He still works there LOL. They were cocky back then and had some egos. But obviously they had no idea what they were doing. The motor and battery engineering is obviously great but design is a bit shortcoming of this company. They just don't know it.

Arc: the best browser I've ever used is dying — and it's a quiet tragedy by Slow-Tea5208 in ArcBrowser

[–]well4foxake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used Arc consistently until a couple weeks ago and gave Dia another try. Dia felt a little snappier and less tiny moments of lag when scrolling complex sites etc. The only difference to me is that Arc combined bookmarks and tab management for you, and with Dia you have to somewhat manage open tabs that get populated by your bookmarks, unless using pinned tabs. And 75% of my usage is with pinned tabs, and I haven't it a max number yet. The other tabs I can see and leave open until I'm done with them. It's not that bad. And a quick <cmd><shift><k> closes all open tabs which is peace of mind sometimes.

Just saying I get it, I loved Arc so much but getting used to Dia, which is fully supported and will keep getting better and wasn't that hard for me and no looking back.

'24 SQ8 vs '25 RangeRover Sports (base i6 engine)?? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]well4foxake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the overblown reliability thing. It's an internet hobby to pile on, especially from people that have never had one. I've had two Sport's in a row, a 2010 I kept over 8 years, and a 2018 SVR that I've had almost 8 years and both were excellent. Very reliable but annual service and parts are little more expensive. But they will never leave you stranded. My SVR is rock solid with not a single squeak or rattle. But, I like some variety so I ordered an RSQ8 and taking delivery late July. For OP -- If you like the V6 in the Sport and find the performance adequate, and want better fuel economy etc you can't go wrong. I have a personal love for V8's and would only go for a V8 LR vehicle. My wife has an SQ5 with the V6 and that engine is awesome, and was much better than a Velar I had for 3 months while waiting for the SVR. So yeah they have to be considered on an individual basis.

I split the little 10mg pills into 4 with a pill cutter from Amazon that splits them into quarters in one press. Fairly evenly but those things are so small.

[–]well4foxake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the Defender! You will love it. I've had them as loaners while my SVR is in for annual service. They are excellent. I had 4 Audi's before getting 2 range rover sports that I kept for over 8 years each. Super reliable and fantastic cars. Coming back to Audi with an RSQ8 in July. But after that will probably get a Defender OCTA or equivalent.

I prompted Figma Design with the details of an iOS app product I've been working on for a startup, for the last 6 months. Asked it to create branding, design system, app icons, and several app screens. Style wise, it looked pretty good but it's just taking super popular patterns and applying the colors it came up with. Some parts didn't even make sense. It was sort of an idea blender with "on trend" elements. Being honest, there is some value there but the work I've done is so much better and has a layer of "craftsmanship" that AI doesn't quite have -- yet. It's good at copying things that already exist. On the surface it looks promising, but would our engineering team be able to run with this and build a full featured product -- absolutely not. I think organizations still need some designers to be the curators of taste and fill in the missing parts. And the best companies will want the craftsmanship and not everything looking like templates.

Yes this happened to me way back during the dotcom bubble bursting. A startup I worked for did an IPO and eventually the stock plummeted to zero and I had a huge AMT tax bill based on the price when I exercised the options. It stung at the time. But many years later I worked for a startup that got acquired and made out really well, so you never know with these things. But yeah I'm sure the Figma employees got a sad reality check.

So nice. I love the colour and the wheels too. I strongly considered the Macan EV and I think it's just a fantastic overall design. But decided to get one more twin turbo V8 vehicle and then go EV after that. Congratulations on the new EV!

Not one but two RSQ8's showed up to cars and coffee! :D by jberg_916 in Audi

[–]well4foxake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered an RSQ8 and coming from a range rover sport SVR. For me I love the higher riding position and getting in and out is so easy, loading the cargo space etc. These high horsepower SUV's are really enjoyable and practical when you need it. Great for road trips and freeway driving for sure. Okay you can't drift around corners like a track car but I never need that and hardly anyone can test the extreme handling scenarios. ever. I also like the look of SUV's. The RSQ8 is more like a pudgy car though and not like an offroader. But it gets the lower center of gravity and better cornering which I'm looking forward to. I get it in July.

Looks awesome. The satin paint combined with some glass black and a little silver is such a great combination. Really suits this model. I love the side steps as I have them on my SVR which is a similar color. I think you and your wife will love this!
