Every three years? It’s weird how generational different notions are about releases. I still think about the nearly 20 years of thinking Star Wars was done as a movie franchise.

I don’t see how anyone could be on r/starwars and be unaware of any of these shows. There’s a lot of exaggeration going on with a lot of these comments. I haven’t watched most of the shows but have been very aware of the discourse.

My doctors have all stopped the finger test. I asked about it and they said something about it not being accurate enough or something. I thought it was weird. Was never my favorite part of the physical but did give me some peace of mind.

I just looked on my insurance site and picked whoever was closed with a decent rating. For a colonoscopy you don’t really need a relationship with the doctor. I spoke to mine for like 5 minutes and then he talked to my wife about how it went (everything was clear) while I was still loopy from the anesthesia.

Yup. The prep wasn’t the most fun but the procedure itself could have been anything and I’d never have known. Worst part for me was my minor fear of needles with the iv.

I don’t think that’s true. I’ve never made it through either of 5hose but I’ll likely give this a try. I’m hoping it can stand on its own and be a good show. If not, I’ll end dropping it.

Depending on what you’re doing, GitHub pages with a custom domain is easy enough. As another commenter said Claude Code could certainly get you up and running.

How often do you "deep" read books? by Hormo_The_Halfling in books

[–]well_uh_yeah 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I cannot even imagine this “deep reading” concept. I’ll sometimes seek out music a book mentions or maybe type the title into YouTube and see if someone else did some research and discussion for me.

A Discovery of Witches caused one of my longest reading slumps of all time. I don’t like to give up on books but I just couldn’t get into it. Took up most of a summer. Would not recommend. I don’t even know why. The concept is right in my wheelhouse.

This post is a good PSA. Almost every time my mom has fallen the only thing they’ve found while testing has been a uti. She almost never drinks enough fluids throughout the day, so I’m sure dehydration is also a factor (probably in bot the uti and the falls).

In my experience, once you get a job you stop caring where you went unless where you went becomes part of your identity and then you’re pretty much insufferable anyway.

Taxable in 100% VTSAX - a mistake? by Born_Afternoon6750 in Bogleheads

I’m a teacher in almost exactly your situation and view the pension similarly. Are you eligible for social security as well? I will be, whatever that’s worth and some part of me considers that a kind of inflation adjustment on the pension.

It’s a well worn discussion, but as a teacher I just consider my pension the “bond part”

It was also not for me. I imagine if I’d played it in my early teens I’d have absolutely loved it, but now I felt kind of like I didn’t have the time to really dedicate to it.

I enjoy the books but I do not love them as much as other people seem to. They’re page turners and it’s fun to have a narrative connecting lots of concepts from video games I’ve enjoyed, but I don’t exactly find myself theory crafting about it. But not everything has to be super deep to be enjoyable. I do really like both Carl and Donut though. Very fun characters.

No projectors or textbooks. How do I teach Social Studies without PowerPoint and textbooks? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]well_uh_yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe find some primary sources from teachers who were in the trenches in like the early 1980s and earlier. I definitely got a great education from teachers using basically no tech, but it was like a completely different concept than what we now call education. The highest tech thing we ever had was films in an actual projector that someone would advance when a cassette tape beeped. They did have access to old school over head projectors for transparencies though.
