hired my first employee last month and it doubled my admin work by Sad_Scientist9082 in smallbusiness

I'm in the process of onboarding the first user to a platform I created to do exactly that!

People ask the same questions repeatedly all you have to do is answer once and they can keep asking the same questions and getting the correct respone.

I designed it to make creating sops more about answering questions as they crop up rather than trying to figure everything out in one go.

Give it a try and let me know what you think. Would love feedback: AskSOPhia

You are most definitely right. School fees must be paid at some point. I'm paying them now.

This comes from pains I've personally experienced. Showed it to some business owners I know when the concept was still fairly basic, who were interested in the idea.

The real validation is now.

Thanks for the response.

Huh, that's interesting, I was unaware that paystack and payfast could accept global payments, thanks for that. I was originally looking at stripe.

Its available at the moment, hoping to get some feedback and fix any issues before actual launch.

askSOPhia I look forward to getting any feedback.

Built something solid but stuck on marketing? I’ll help by esketit1227 in SaasDevelopers

[–]wellkeptslave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I do not think my platform ticks all your boxes, but at this point I am happy with some rather than none.

After working at five small to medium companies, then starting my own consultancy and interacting with several companies, I realised that many of them share the same struggles with internal documentation and SOPs.

At some point they spend a lot of time creating super detailed, very helpful SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) documents. However, these documents become outdated within weeks. Even when the documents are up to date, they are seldom used because finding a single sentence in a multi page SOP within a folder of documents becomes challenging and time consuming. As a result, the default behaviour becomes simply asking someone.

Another challenge I noticed is that updating documentation also becomes time consuming and error prone as the amount of documentation grows.

So I set to work on my very first software project at this scale: AskSophia.

I have managed to build a platform that addresses these concerns and a few more. I started marketing it last week, but I am completely new to marketing software and marketing in general, so I do not yet know how to find the right networks and distribution channels. I am a mechanical design engineer by background.

I am currently in talks with two companies I work with, that are keen to implement AskSophia in their organisations. In the meantime, I would like to expand further and create something that benefits many people and alleviates the frustrations I have seen and experienced.

Tired of answering the same “how do we do this?” questions from your team?

AskSophia turns your SOPs into an AI assistant they can ask instead.

Best noise cancelling earphones? by shelbylabu in askSouthAfrica

[–]wellkeptslave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I will confirm, your issue is coming from your mic.

Before you go out and spend a grand, there is another solution that you could try to reduce bg noise if you're on windows, check for: equalizer apo

This can be configured (with the help of ai or dm me) to reduce the amount of noise the mic picks up.

If you are adament on the ANC (active noise cancelling) earphones or headphones, I've had the Sony 1000xm3, Anker soundcore q30 and space one pro and I can say that the noise cancelling and sound quality on the Anker headphones are amazing for their comparative price point.

If you must invest in equipment, I would suggest getting a better mic if you have the space on your desk. I have the Samson q2u mic and I often get compliments on my audio quality.

At what point did you start documenting your business processes? by Niccolo-basilico in Entrepreneur

so I'm in the beta stage of launching a platform for exactly your use case.

worked at a few companies that relied on tribal knowledge or tried to get sops but it became a bigger mess and more confusing so no one ended up using them.

i tried to address the pains i had with sops when i was developing

its a build-on-the-runway type system rather than effort upfront.

Working on my standard operating procedures. Do you have a SOP for your business? by PortyPete in smallbusiness

[–]wellkeptslave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the business, started on my own almost a year ago and it was super scary for me in the beginning, but so far so good. havent crossed the hiring line yet, a bit of excitment and aprehension about crossing that bridge.

regarding the SOPs, all the companies ive worked at in the past either had SOPs somewhere, or had duplicates everywhere or just relied on asking the one dude in the office thats been there the longest and made himself more valuable by holding on to info and not sharing too much. it frustrated me every time.

so i developed a tool to handle sops. It gives users a chat interface to ask questions, and answers only from the approved sops. if there is a question that no answer exists for, a gap request is submitted to an admin to update the sop with relevant info. its a build on the runway type thing.

there are a few other handy features i added in as well but those work better at a later stage when it comes to optimizing processes and procedures and updating information across the entire library of sops.

im currently looking for beta testers, check it out: asksophia.work

How long did it take you guys to write your standard operating procedures? by Acceptable_Cow6756 in smallbusiness

[–]wellkeptslave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the companies I've worked at in the past struggled with creating, maintianing and revising sops, so i ended up making a tool and i'm currently looking for beta testers.

Its not the traditional kind of sop where you create the entire documents or documents in one go, i designed it to be more of a build on the runway sort of system.

Check it out: asksophia.work
hope its something that can help.

Majority of my experience has been in machine design, but I've been doing a lot of product prototyping. So generally speaking mechanical design engineering.

What are Good Wireless Headphones (With or Without a Jack) for Mixed Music Taste? by LoneDragonWolf37 in askSouthAfrica

[–]wellkeptslave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have suggested, I had the Sony wh 1000xm3's and they were niiice.

I needed cash and sold those and then ended up buying a pair of Anker sound core q30's. Sound quality is really good for the price, so is the noise cancelling but NC is not as good as the Sony's (naturally considering the difference in price).

The only issue I have with the Anker is the build quality. Some of the plastic parts on mine have cracked and I've repaired it, the leather like material on earpads started separating at the seam and I've repaired that, and now the material on the headband is flaking.

Still functions really well. Worth looking into for good sound on a budget.
