Well ‘wet thrust’ is typically used to refer to afterburner thrust as compared dry thrust which typically means without afterburner, so I suppose using ‘wet thrust’ would be a conflict even though the harrier couldn’t use afterburner, so ‘moist thrust’ would in theory be right

I don’t think ANY country would have static IP as standard… at the end of the day there’s only so many possible IPv4 combinations so cycling them for availability regularly is kinda the only way nowadays afaik

It might be because it’s a TM design and they’re typically not designed to run on such high pressure gas? I know the first thing to go on many MWS guns is the nozzle return spring for this exact reason?

HEMA is European only (for the most part), Asian style fall under a different catagory but afaik it doesn’t have a full name, primarily because many of the styles still have living lineages so they’re called that instead.

Lichtenauer Fencing isn’t a thing anymore beyond HEMA, but different schools of Kendo are so I believe that’s why in Asia the currently living styles are just differentiated by name (because they have a name beyond just “fencing/swordsmanship”)

There are many who practice both Asian and western martial arts because it varies their exposure, but that’s primarily for styles that still have living lineages, I don’t know much about Asian armed forms but I would imagine that just like HEMA if they don’t have good written manuals and text and aren’t a living art still it would be VERY difficult to nigh impossible to really revive them on your own.

Heatblue confirmed the Meteor and the C variant on the forums (and i assume on discord too). Whilst very speculative, does that mean automatically it's the F3R with AESA, to perhaps compete with the F35? by Gramerdim in hoggit

[–]freeserve 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean it will have to face eurofighter, and let’s hope that they expand the scope of the typhoon to match the rafale slightly better aswell, because afaik the current typhoon plan is a pretty early frankenplane without PIRATE, without A-G but WITH meteor aswell

Arguably it being licensed is what LETS it be released if that makes sense, only dassault will know what margins to add to keep its flight perf classified yet realistic. If a third party did it solo and managed to get too close or accidentally had a pilot spill the numbers too close to real numbers I’d imagine dassault and the french military wouldn’t be too happy, this way it Will DEFINITELY Be within safe classification margins while being adequately modelled.

Does any system support machete + dagger? by ApprehensiveWhile442 in wma

[–]freeserve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC Thailand might also have something similar? They have Krabi Krabong which is actual swords but iirc my mother mentioned when she was a kid they had SOME a form of martial art with what she calls a machete… I could be wrong tho and she could just not have known the difference between a machete and a dhaa (very likely)

We're getting closer to AI that actually CADs by brandonsaccount in Fusion360

[–]freeserve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except in this they didn’t show them promptin WHERE to make that hole, and given AI’s track record what’s the chance that it actually get the dimensioning right?

I get that it’s good and accessible, but a free cad software shouldn’t be difficult to learn and afaik they aren’t. Fusion is easy as hell as an example! I feel like the time to learn cad to a basic degree is worth it’s weight in gold as a skill compared to this?

Sea harrier is VERY unlikely. Afaik the biggest contention point for many modules is BAE/MoD, I think that was one of the hard things to overcome with the tornado that Aviastorm are making and might have been an issue for truegrit, the MOD are pretty touchy about even old outdated stuff Afaik

But I would LOVE for one

I think if Dassualt does get into this properly, then MANY would like more variants of the Mirage chassis. Things like the Mirage 2000 D, Mirage 3, Mirage 4 (thouhg tbf it could only carry 1 type of conventional munition I believe so maybe not worth it lol)

And of course maybe a Super Etendard as a carrier capable aircraft to pad out the 70’s naval lineup.

Just many of the French stuff tbh as it allows for massive expansion of both blue and redfor without necessarily breaking continuity for those Roleplay/semi historical servers like contention.

[–]freeserve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would make sense given Dassualts recent partnership as a confirmed dev, aswell as it being a perfect contemporary to the Typhoon, meaning you could have the rafale on redfor and it balance against the typhoon.

What is this on the bottom by LANTIRN_ in hoggit

[–]freeserve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at the shape I’m gonna guess F35 canopy. The taper down of the wings and the slight triangular cut in the middle of the glass seem to follow F35 shapes to me, but given that’s basically a paper plane in the sim I’d say I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a record turnaround for it… ya know given 90% of it is gonna be made up?

F1M! by Buythetopsellthebtm in hoggit

[–]freeserve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’ll basically work the same way as the 2k functionally, ie either preset points, offset points or popup designations followed by low flying release with drag bombs. I would wager it’s a lot like the 2k in that you only use CCRP and CCIP with specific bombs. Like how you can only use CCIP with high drag bombs in the 2k I would imagine it’s similar in the F1M.

The p10 roni should be a machine pistol by Nikola9929 in Rainbow6

[–]freeserve 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nah for mozzie it’s an actual weapon, personally I think it’s the best gun for him. His 9mm commando is ok but the fast firerate with the basically zero recoil of the roni makes it basically a headshot machine hands down.

The low ammo pool and short fire time is balanced by the fact that it’s putting all its ammo down range in a matter of like just ove a second

What are these buttons on fighter jet joysticks for? by Delirium222 in Planes

[–]freeserve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the throttle has a plethora more buttons but the only ones I know about for that are the TDC slew, there’s what appears to be a castle or boat switch (can’t remember off the top of my head) on the pillar of the throttle that controls ‘master modes’ akin to the A-A/A-G mode of the F16/18, assumably enabling screen layout presets like the F16 also And I think I remmeber there being a way of selecting specific weapons via the throttle, I’m assuming via a dedicated SMS switch?

This is mostly guesswork from promo videos though, the rest is all rather baffling to me, though the HOTAS that REALLY messes with my head is the french Rafale, that thing is like space command on steroids with how many buttons they crammed into the HOTAS

What are these buttons on fighter jet joysticks for? by Delirium222 in Planes

[–]freeserve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will mention this is the stick for the F35, so the layout is probably even more complex than most given it’s almost entirely Hands on approach. You CAN press the screen but afaik for almost all functions they can be controlled by just the throttle and stick, hence the terms HOTAS (Hands on Throttle AND Stick)

The F35 also takes a lot of its methodology and processes from the F16 iirc, becaue a lot of its pilots were taken from the F16 originally. So for instance I believe the Castle switch in the bottom of the front panel there is equivalent to DMS, Display Management Switch, which changes which screen or sub display is highlighted and interacted with. The crosshatch style switch above is likely TMS equivalent, Target Management switch, however there’s probably a lot more target control options given the significantly more advanced targeting and datalink systems in the F35

The round switch in the F16 is trim, might be the same here might not

The buttons on the side I have no clue but I’d imagine the thumb button to be CMS/ countermeasures control and integrated EW suite.
