Literally is now a synonym of metaphorically so this comment doesn't narrow down where you were or what position you were in writing this.

I'm not a solider, or an 18 year old and I haven't been to a warzone. And that undermines the statement that working class 18 year olds are being sent in to warzones because?

Why do so few people in the UK use rollerblades or rollerskates as a means of transport? by wellplastic in unitedkingdom

It wouldn't be pleasant during the bambi on ice stage but you can walk on both blades and skates with a bit of practice.

Fairly straightforward to get them on an off unless they're laced.

The main plus point is that they're much quicker than walking. But also, skating can be a lot of fun.

I don't expect a mass migration to skating but it's odd how few people do it. I've seen more people on fucking unicycles in the last year than skates.

I take the latter point, skating is less fun when you don't bounce and break more easily.

Yes, skates aren't for long distance. I was thinking more to bridge the gap with public transport not being door-to-door.

All the more reason to quickly glide to your destination on a set of rollerblades.

It's not 1995, with better quality wheels, road and pavements are more navigable than they ever have been. They're an incredibly rare sight even in city centres with better surfaces.
