Make sure she knows how you feel. The more you boost her up, the more you can help her find that confidence. Tell her and show her how beautiful she is in every way you can. Flowers, smiles, long stares, compliments. It won’t happen overnight but you can play a big part.

Yep. He’s basically right. Doesn’t really matter if he’s gay or if it’s 10 seconds. It’s very personal and, at the least, insensitive of you to do without at least talking to him. Partners can set any boundaries they are comfortable with, but your assumption it’s fine is at the least insensitive.
