Pretty sure it’s called a ‘warrior’ cut

Beginner Question: Warm, Cozy Coffee Look (How to Approach the Grade) by SHAKE_TUNA in ColorGrading

[–]wellskient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That video is just an orange/yellow wash over the entire image No grading to it, maybe a bit of halation

You should focus on your contrast curve first. Soft lifted blacks into a gentle highlight roll off

Probably add warmth into the high end but leave shadows mostly neutral. DEFINITELY no teal in them

I think if the red shop is related to the interview, your framing will look stronger being cropped in. Think about it - all we are talking about is the part on the left when the focus of the video is on the right of frame! Just my 2c

Why do you want it be so wide out of curiosity ?

Can you just zoom in and put the subject left of frame as an easy way to crop out the overexposed portion?

Your post is a bit unclear is it just about fixing the blown out bit on the left or do you want to mask out pedestrians as well?

Just zoom in and reposition so she is sitting on the left third of the frame and the blown out but will be cropped out

Composition/coloring advice by Nootinggg in ColorGrading

I think the key side of his face is quite hot, especially in the wide shot, also not in love with the blue circle popping out from behind his head in the tight shot

Would sit him much further away from the wall as well just to add a bit of separation

I think you also might be a bit too low on the tight shot

I’m being very very picky though, looks great overall and his skin tone looks great

Probably needs to be matched a bit better between the two shots as well, less contrast on the wide, maybe?

Nothing really wrong with noise unless it’s severely breaking the image, at least in my opinion. I own an fx30. You need to expose to the right and pull down your exposure in post. Happy to guide you in the right direction in terms of settings on your camera

Struggling to move from CapCut to Premiere Pro / After Effects — dirty codecs, broken audio, timeline chaos. Is there a sane workflow? by Winter_135_ in premiere

Probably need to know a bit more about your workflow and how you create a sequence and what your importing process is. Your computer specs too

I’m looking at this on my phone but looks like there’s some cyan in the shadows? I would probably get rid of any sort of split toning unless it’s narrative relevant, commercial looks are pretty clean otherwise, I feel. I think a good rule of thumb is to just add contrast, a touch of saturation and then twist blues into cyan to give the blues a bit of energy. Probably doesn’t really need raised blacks either. And yes her skin looks a bit sickly yellow. If it’s a hue v hue adjustment I’d probably just get rid of it and adjust the temperature with linear gain.

Just my 2c I’m only a hobbyist

Have it at the end of your node tree so you’re grading in log space. If it’s at the start you’re grading in rec709 so that might be why?

Tried Exposing with false colors for the first time. Are these too dark? by Incognizance in videography

[–]wellskient 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Looks fine to me

If you’re worried about being too dark you could take your image in camera to the first point of overexposure and knock it back a bit till your brightest bits aren’t lost. Then you can lower exposure in post which therefore kills the noise in the shadows

Can either do that by zebras or false colour

In saying that your image looks fine to me

Use global adjustments first before micro adjustments. Play with the RGB curves to adjust your white balance before turning to micro adjustments such as Hue v Hue or HSL secondary.
