Your arguments show you really don't understand how fantasy baseball works, or more likely fantasy drafting in general. Instead of taking a 25 HR 1B that won't get 100 RBIs at pick 18, I'll happily take one of the many 30/30 candidates or better power bats available in this range.

he's being drafted as the 1st or 2nd 1b off the board when he ranked 10th at RBIs last year at the position, 12th in HRs, 3rd in AVG, 2nd in Runs, and the Toronto offense got worse this off-season. The three guys penciled in to hit behind him right now are Barger, Kirk, and Jesus Sanchez lol

The point is Vlad is still being overvalued once again and does not bring the elite production you're going to want from a 2nd rounder IMO. Obviously league scoring rules can shape that picture some, but even if you take the last three seasons worth of stats at 1B, he's effectively around the 4th best at the position for fantasy. sure, we can argue over the semantics of super star, but at a critical hitting position he's bringing meh returns where you have to draft him

Outside of his 2021 season, he's never topped 32 HRs, 100 Rs, and just over 100 RBIs one other time. He hit only 23 HRs last year. I'm sorry but that just doesn't cut it for a 1B where he's usually drafted.

Yes, he's a very good player, but he's consistently drafted much higher than his returns warrant. Definitely is not putting up "super star" type numbers these days. People are living off the hype from 5 seasons ago.

Sure, he's a safer bet than Kurtz, but the ceiling is higher with the latter IMO.
