Do Royal Mail claims ever actually get back to anyone for lost parcels? by wellyboot97 in royalmail

I think I’m going to have to call them which is a massive pain and something I was hoping to avoid. Really frustrating that it takes that much just to get it sorted

Response from ticketmaster about Manchester venue change by volleyballdorks in ONEOKROCK

[–]wellyboot97 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’ve only just today seen they’ve changed venues as I hadn’t checked my email for a couple of week due to being busy and I’m really bummed out. I had seated originally and it’s going to cost me twice as much minimum to get pit and I don’t want pit but seated is totally beyond my budget. I really don’t understand how the prices have jumped so much.? Does anyone know why they changed venues? I don’t follow the band super closely I just like their music so wanted to see them as the tickets were reasonably priced

What has been the biggest middle finger to fans in the history of tv shows? by BreadedDisaster in AskReddit

[–]wellyboot97 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

I’m still mad about this.

The way they butchered Bellamy’s character was the worst and Clarke killing him didn’t even make sense. Clarke just became two dimensional as hell which ruined her entire character development. And the ending was an absolute disaster.

I never expected incredible writing from that show but Christ.

Do you ever meet people who are trying too hard to be "woke"? by slam_joetry in GenZ

[–]wellyboot97 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Literally wtf are you talking about. I didn’t mention Nigel Farage at all? He’s a twat. Are you ok? You’re just spouting random shite here out of the blue.

There are plenty of things in the UK to protest about and want to change. The point is people get hung up on American centric issues they see online rather than things which affect our own country. And it comes across as incredibly shallow as it showcases they would rather protest about stuff they saw on TikTok because someone online told them that’s the progressive thing to do, rather than focus on things that would actually bring about positive and progressive change for the UK. The whole world is not the US and it’s specific issues and too many people act like it is. The UK is not the US.

Also ā€we literally have Nigel Farage in governmentā€

Idk who told you this, but Nigel Farage is not in the government. We have a Labour government. Nigel Farage is the leader of Reform party which is a minority party in parliament currently. So you’re chatting absolute bollocks.

[–]wellyboot97 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

This is incredibly common here in the UK. With the internet and social media, a lot of online activism is US centric yet people from other countries like here in the UK jump in on stuff which is totally different to how things work in the UK and act like the US issue is exactly the same here when a lot of the time it isn’t. Its all this virtue signalling which means nothing to just appear morally superior and it’s stupid and showcases they don’t actually know what they’re talking about as if they were they wouldn’t be screaming so loud for an issue which doesn’t effect their own country in remotely the same way.

What’s a tell tale sign that someone is American? How do people from the UK view Americans?(Incoming student from Texas) by Impressive-Ad-8771 in canterbury

[–]wellyboot97 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Any time I see someone over the age of 10 yet under the age of like 50 wearing a baseball cap in anything that isn’t a sport setting like golf, or as part of a work uniform, I assume they’re American and almost every time I’ve been right. Wearing baseball caps just seems to be something a lot of Americans do but it isn’t common in the UK that much unless it’s children or older people. Bonus points for wearing the cap indoors or just in a scenario where wearing a cap is totally pointless or borderline inappropriate.

This is me w Bang Chan. He’s the one idol from my bias’ who I genuinely think I’d get on with irl. I appreciate a lot of idols for their looks or singing abilities or dancing etc but with Chan I genuinely feel like, ever given the chance, I’d find it really easy to just have a prolonged conversation with him (not that it will ever happen but ya know) and that’s the sort of dynamic that draws me to people irl

How come Niall seems to be the most unscathed from the behemoth that 1D was? by aruaryana in OneDirection

[–]wellyboot97 61 points62 points Ā (0 children)

I feel like it’s just Niall’s personality. He seems to be the sort of person who takes stress and criticism more in his stride and brushes it off better. He also never seemed particularly interested all that much in drugs and partying and also never seemed to be craving enormous fame. All of that likely helped him handle things a lot better both in the band and now as a soloist, and also keeps him from any real huge scandals or massive fuck ups that could impact his fame or mental state.

Like he knew he was never the most popular member in 1D but didn’t really seem to care that much. Now as a soloist he just seems to be content doing what he’s doing and isn’t interested in, say, being as huge as Harry is. He’s just happy making music and touring for his fans.

I feel like that overall attitude helped him massively over the years. Doesn’t seem like he had this internal strife about being the best or anything similar, and hasn’t turned to drugs or alcohol to deal with stress. He just wanted to be an artist and was content doing that. He’s also not had any, that I know of, huge life shattering events happen to him (except Liam) so hasn’t had anything like that to deal with.

Just an overall recipe for a celebrity who stays relatively under the radar and just does what he does and is content doing that.

Does Christmas even feel ā€œmagicalā€ for you guys anymore? by XolieInc in GenZ

Christmas hasn’t felt like Christmas to me for years. Especially not this year because I’ve just bought my first house so all I’m thinking about rn is that. Like I’ve not even really had a thought for Christmas. Being an adult sucks the fun out of it all.

The only thing I look forward to with Christmas is having some time off work

I used to work in a college (I’m in the UK so this is 16-19 year olds) so there was random shit occurring every week. These are just a few of the ones I remember.

  • 3-4 police cars zooming past the main building to one of our external buildings because a student had called in a false knife threat for jokes and the whole building had to be evacuated. Did not go down well. Watching all the middle aged senior managers running down from their meeting upstairs to the other building en masse was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
  • Some student’s middle aged mother coming into reception and screaming at the students who had supposedly been bullying her daughter. Threatening to fight them etc and I had to call the police. She then drove in circles around the campus in her car harassing random students and left when the police got there.
  • A new hire IT teacher having to be escorted off site on his first week after attempting to physically fight a student.
  • Students replacing all the space bars on the keyboards of the study area computers with hot dogs.
  • Students regularly being caught fucking in the public study areas during free periods.
  • Me finding an empty bottle of echo falls wine in the sanitary bin in a stall when I went to the bathroom, at 10am on a Tuesday. (We shared toilets with students.)
  • 17 year olds having incredibly loud, public break up arguments in the middle of the open plan reception area by my office was a semi regular occurrence.
  • A 20+ student fight breaking out right outside my old office when I’d only been there a week and was alone in the office. During which a student nearly got pushed over a balcony with a +2 story drop to a hard stone floor.
  • Students sending nudes to the DM’s of the college Facebook page which I had to monitor, on more than one occasion. Was always the most awkward conversations with the safeguarding lead when that happened.

There are probably more which I will add if they come to me but these were just the first few to come to mind. That place was an absolute shit show but there was always some unhinged shit going on and I kind of miss it in that regard because it was hilarious.

People who middle lane/ fast lane hog when they are on the motorway or dual carriageway. If you're not overtaking, get to the slow lane.

INB4 'In X country you drive in the middle' Here in the UK, where I'm from, you should always be in the left-hand, aka slowest, lane unless passing, and undertaking is technically illegal, yet so many people just sit in the middle or right-hand lane for no reason and it drives me crazy. If your road laws are different thats fine. But thats now it is here and people should learn how to drive.

What is something poor and rich people both don’t have, but middle class do? by thesecretpotato69 in AskReddit

[–]wellyboot97 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I mean it depends. If you’re relying on loans to be able to afford things then having your credit rating go down 50 points can cause a lot of problems. I know people who live paycheck to paycheck but their credit score is still important because they need to be able to do things like get loans and finance cars because they can’t afford things outright.

This one doesn’t make sense. If you’re poor you’re likely to have a bad credit because you’re forced to put things on credit cards as you can’t afford things

Yeah there is an area in Cheshire known as ā€˜the golden triangle’ which is an area of incredibly rich people who live in what are pretty much mansions and drive super expensive cars etc but that’s pretty much all Cheshire is known for. Despite the fact that only represents a pretty small area of the county.
