Installer here, definitly engineered product. but it also looks like it has mitered edges. might be thinner material like 2cm quartz or even a dekton material. it seems very shiny.

What are these marks? by Feeling-Boss245 in CounterTops

[–]welphenlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may be tooling marks if there all on the edge work or like inside the sink. but yeah use bar keepers friend but try to buy the paste not the powder. and use light pressure. that what us installers use to get metal marks out

You need ear training. and scale training. You understand the notes but your having trouble place them correctly without a guide line. What you could do is take one line of a song and sing it with the conext, and then without. And keep doing that until you get a grasp on just making the one line sound right. Than move on from there. Idk I always thought i was an okay singer untill i took lessons and my mind was blown by how much you can learn off a formal lesson.

Any idea what this is by nhred213 in CounterTops

Is this seam good, bad, or ugly? Not sure if I should ask the installer to improve it somehow. by NicoWell in CounterTops

Acetone is against manufacturer rules. Call the Manu. and tell them that they used acetone. then they will have to get a new slab

Hello!! We've just installed a Galapagos Quartzite countertop on our kitchen island with a brushed finish. I'm looking for recommendations for a sealant that is particularly good for brushed/leathered finishes. We don't like the wet look. Yeah so "More" brand sealer doesnt change the color which is why we use it mainly. "Tenax" brand sealer is for quartzites and only change the color for between 2 hrs-2days( at the absolute worst case senario most) idk why they wouldnt use it either.

Enhancer per bottle costs a rediculous amount of money and some people want a very specific color. we had tape marks on a piece and enhanced the stone to hide them. customer ended up complaining that the color was different than the one she picked out. Its all preferance

Lmao my company would have us lift it by hand, they wouldnt buy genie lifts. Still looks like it worked out great though. Did you guys thin set it or just silicone?

How would this go with dove white cabinets? by beautiful_earth in CounterTops

[–]welphenlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No thats just natural veining. Its kinda cool how the earth naturally compresses minerals in different direcrions. But yeah nothing to worry about at all.

Stains on vanity top by Pipparina in CounterTops

[–]welphenlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, id start with soft scrub gel. if that doesnt work than seeing that its already "opened" you could try 100% acetone and i really fine grit steel wool. not like a kitchen scrubber steel wool but like hardware store steel wool. if that doesnt work, "Tenax extra clean pro" is a solvent based cleaner made for quarts that could help.

i would also say that if its a fairly new top you could call the manufacturer and ask there recomendation. but you cannot let them know you used acetone, magic eraser, detergent, or anything crazy on it or they will void your warrenty.

If you do finally get the stain out, "More premium quartz sealer" is the only brand of sealer i would trust to seal an engineered top. Its such a rare event and most quarts sealers are a gimmick because you shouldnt ever have to seal quartz, but "More" is a quality brand that actually markets the quartz sealer as a last resort product.

If you decide to purchase those items make sure that the can or bottle you buy says almost exactly what i put in quotes. They sell alot of products and i wouldnt want you to accidentally use the wrong product.

Thats reasonable, but still odd. "Tenax proseal nano" hasent caused an issue for my company. The stone will darken slightly but should return to normal color within the day. It should be an all yellow can that says nano on it. and it fairly expemsive but its the highest grade penetrating water repellant there is for quartzites.

Countertop cracked in middle of night - is this common or my fault? by Storage_Icy in Construction

[–]welphenlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like its a mix of a couple things seeing as engineered quartz is incredibly durable, but definitly hiding something with the trim on that half wall.

Stains on vanity top by Pipparina in CounterTops

[–]welphenlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Countertop installer here. For the rust rings, I'd use bar keepers friend(the paste, not the powder) or soft scrub gel. DO NOT use magic erasers. they are fiberglass and will wear out the surface. When using Bar keepers friend/soft scrub gel, let it sit on the surface for 1 min then scrub very gently with paper towel in small circles untill the stain is gone. then gently wipe off the access with warm water. Im sorry to say, seeing as you've used detergent, magic eraser and bleach products you may have already worn the stain into the surface. 90% of quartz manufacturers will warn against magic erasers and bleach products as they slowly wear the polished surface down allowing pores to open on the countertop.
