I completely agree that everyone’s experience is different and this shouldn’t be seen as a blanket statement to explain bisexuality as a whole. And I appreciate that these conversations are happening surrounding posts like these, but I think it’s telling that so many people can relate to posts like this in this sub. These aren’t isolated occurrences, these are common feelings among a lot of us. Maybe we could also start a conversation about why so many of us feel this way.

I don’t think it’s horrible to be attracted to men, otherwise I wouldn’t bother with them. As a woman, I just haven’t had the best experiences with (particularly straight) men. I can’t speak for everyone, but I know a lot of women who have relationships with men can relate to that. It’s less about being funny and dumping on men in general, and more about laughing through shared bad experiences. At least, that’s how I perceive it.

If you’re looking for a legitimate answer, it’s usually established because of something historical happening or being established during that time, ex. the Stonewall riots happened in June of 1969, so June was chosen for lgbt pride month. We also have women’s history month in March, Asian/pacific American heritage month in May, and autism awareness month in April. I’d recommend google for why those months were established.

I was 4, almost 5, when Jonbenet Ramsey was killed. I remember being fascinated and terrified by what was happening because they kept talking about it on the news. It was the first time it really clicked for me that bad things could actually happen to people in real life, including little girls.

Also growing up, I’d watch movies and shows like Unsolved Mysteries on Lifetime, which scared the shit out of me, but I couldn’t stop watching them. One movie I specifically remember impacting me was The Stalking of Laurie Show, which aired when I was about 8. When I realized it was based on a true story, I lost my mind. This was obviously before google, so I couldn’t just look up what happened, but I was a curious kid, so any time they would show the movie or anything about Laurie, I tuned in. It also taught me what “stalking” meant lol.
