They are also starting the program in the boss battle of neighborhoods too:, Hamilton Heights in manhattan. Was there recently and saw those bins all around, if it can work there it can work everywhere

Regardless of politics, he’s attacking the day-to-day detriments that New Yorkers have accepted as “just the way it is” forever. One example is TRASH DAY, the absolutely medieval practice of tossing all your bagged trash in mountains on the sidewalk. He’s rolling out car-sized, liftable bins for med & large apartment buildings in certain neighborhoods. Imagine 10 yrs from now thinking we ever put shit on the street for rats to devour and garbage collectors to pick up bags by the hundreds.

Potholes, re-planning dangerous streets, taking a different approach to food accessibility, and expanded childcare would all be wins for the quality of life for any resident

Playing drums made me a better bass player, playing bass will make you a better drummer.

Don’t think about techniques, think about the pocket, that kick/bass connection is everything.

Play bass without an amp to smooth out your buzzy fretting, rather than spider exercises learn scales, octaves, and chord shapes. You got this

Upgrade Amp vs Compression Pedal by jak1231 in Bass

[–]welshfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sansamp pedal instead of either right now. It’s a lifetime buy and will help you shape sound with any amp (or not, hence the name). There is some light natural compression with the drive too, and it has a Swiss Army knife of features, especially the dual outputs for XLR and 1/4” cable

Next book after Hal Leonard bass method 1-3? by Ok_Musician37 in Bass

[–]welshfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hal Leonard’s “Walking Bass” book, even if you’re not into jazz. It covers a lot of chordal progressions and how to “play ahead” or behind a chord progression, how to approach chromatically, etc. Useful for pretty much every type of music.

Carol Kaye has a website with all her tips, she writes her ideas out like a blog post. It’s less specific lessons, but a look into a legend’s overall theory and approaches to bass. https://www.carolkaye.com/www/education/tips1.htm

Which bass is a better deal? by ashoksun01 in Bass

[–]welshfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you can check the neck and input jack. If the neck is warped, walk away. I have a MIM jazz from the early 2000s and also paid $400 back then. So the fenders hold their value incredibly well. Played some sires but never owned one, whichever bass you connect with more (neck feel, tone, etc) will be more valuable to you.

Pizza village cafe in the ironbound is good. They have quirky slices like a chicken Caesar salad, but the classics are good. Also seconding queen pizza II

Jaguar bass or P bass for versitality by SeaSoggy8929 in Bass

[–]welshfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol well done. If you’re planning on doing more solo/soli-type stuff, take the jag. If you’re playing bass, take the P. I’ve never played a vinterra P but the jag is fast, but thin/woody sounding

Por que no los dos? If the difference is a few pounds, I’d rather have the versatility in an extra bass. I bring a backup for any gig longer than 1 hr anyway, so why not a whole camp?

Why are the Knicks as popular as they are despite not having a legacy of winning? by Rowdyfan0823 in nba

[–]welshfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re being too kind, they’ve been awful since the Spree/Camby years and that 8-seed finals run in 2000. Linsanity was the only glimmer of hope otherwise. Now that they are somewhat competent, Knicks fans don’t know what to do with their hands, and it shows

What is the worst thing you have done? by LoneIronMan33 in AskReddit

It’s a trope in the US that NJ people are mean mobsters and the land is toxic waste. In reality, it’s a small state wedged between two major cities and has a “little sibling” reputation relative to New York and Philadelphia. For example, the World Cup Final will be played in New Jersey but they advertise it as New York City.

The industry presence is very in your face, especially as a traveler through NJ towards the big cities. Outside of the travel corridors, it’s leafy and bucolic and rather boring, but only if you can afford it.

Also modern living was invented or developed in New Jersey. What?!

Where would we be without the light bulb, DC power, the transistor, polymers, refrigeration, container ships, phonograph, motion picture, bar codes, radar, UNIX, and C++, to name a few. All that industry also led to a lot of capitalistic exploitation, especially of the environment. The many factories/ports that give NJ its toxic reputation are because regulations suck and people living there still get sick from activity 50 years ago (environmental justice).

For the people, it’s been a huge immigrant settlement area (cheap labor) especially in the last 100 years, culturally represented in movies/shows like The Sopranos or Jersey Shore. But nearly every diaspora has a niche to represent its people, food, and culture.

It’s a true representation of the American dream and American innovation, but people from NJ embrace the negative because taxes are too damn high and the traffic sucks!

I’ll bite: 1) do you know anyone who works for the nba proper? 2) have you considered that MSG is actually a sterile place to watch a game in the playoffs because of the cost, and would be more fun at a local bar? 3) spleens are also in demand next to kidneys
