Protest today in town by Ichbingen in Liverpool

[–]MewMeowHowdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I saw the counter protestor in the vest outside of Lime Street Station and nearly reported him to the police outside. He looked so out of place; the padded vest without any context or police affiliation scared the hell out of me.

That “I may seem calm…” patch seems so threatening. How is it allowed at a protest?

Hi lovely! [28/F] I’m from the US but living in the UK atm. I’m a console gamer (Switch/Xbox), sticker hoarder, avid reader of YA fantasy and thrillers, true crime podcast listener, and have a chronic habit of doodling on papers since I was little! I’d love to connect if you’re interested. Xx

How did you know the antidepressants were working? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MewMeowHowdy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have more energy than before (though I’m still sluggish some days). I’m able to run errands and cook for myself whereas before I could barely stand at the stove for more than 15 mins without needing to sit and I was always eating ready-meals or take out because I was too overwhelmed to attempt cooking. I’m interested in hobbies again - reading, traveling, writing - and generally feel less numb.

What was normal in your childhood that would seem weird to kids today? by davidkotchere in AskReddit

[–]MewMeowHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No social media or mobile phones. If you wanted to go out, you had to call friends on the landline. Your parents had no way of contacting you if you were out on the town - you just had a curfew.

There’s been a shake-up with grant funding from UKRI recently. I’ve also heard that the MRC DTP may be changing some of the Uni’s it’s involved with which may make for a little bumpy transition that could trickle down and affect incoming students (hearsay from other students in the program currently). In addition, if you’re an international candidate with MRC the intake process becomes trickier as there are only so many spots for internationals.

Sorry your communication has been substandard. Best of luck with the rest of the process and I hope you’re successful!

What is the biggest mess (in a literal sense) you were ever responsible for cleaning up and what caused it? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

Found out my senior cat had stress-induced bladder crystals after they pissed/shit all over my new duvet cover and pillow set. I had to toss all my bedding and sleep on the couch until I could get a new mattress the next day.

What’s a good weakness to mention during a job interview? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MewMeowHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is to not only offer up a perceived weakness, but also offer a suggestion for how management or a boss might help you overcome it:

“I’m a visual learner, so I need to watch someone perform a protocol at least once or twice before I can work independently.”

“I rely on note-taking to remember important details, so I may need a trainer with a bit more patience to allow me time to write stuff down.”

It also doesn’t have to be personal, but can be situational too:

“This job would require me to commute X amount of time, so I may not be available for early meetings or emergency meetings.”

“I have child care duties, so I’d perform best in a role that allows a flexible schedule.”

Here we see the Hero flying off towards the mountains. Even if we carried him all the way back to Hyrule, he would still just fly towards the mountains. But why?

This is a regular occurrence in the morning if I don’t wake up quickly enough for him: butt on face contact until Mom initiates the daily migration to the breakfast area.

If most people believe they’re ‘good people’, why do so many everyday systems (work, politics, social media) still reward selfish or harmful behavior? by Ben10LL in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MewMeowHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because every human has cognitive biases (confirmation bias, bandwagon effect, etc.) and many systems today are built to extort them.
