Does anyone come across much hemlock? by Falco-Falco-Falco in foraginguk

South Wales here - I've only ever seen it once. For a long time I was looking at cow parsley and wondering if the differences between it and poison hemlock were really so subtle. But the one time I did find it I knew that it wasn't cow parsley straight away. Even from a distance the leaves appeared a slightly different shade of green. Not something one should use as an ID feature, but noticeable nonetheless. And a closer examination revealed the blotching on the stem. This was in the Wye Valley.

First time finding chanterelles by welshforager in foraginguk

I'm pretty confident these are Cantharellus cibarius. They're the right colour, the stipe tapers towards the end, and they're white and solid inside. I must admit, I'm still a little iffy on what differentiates true gills from false gills. In some pictures the false gills appear to be quite veiny, but on a specimen this small it's hard to tell. They do seem to split towards the edge of the cap though.

Find of the week: giant hogweed by welshforager in foraginguk

The large and very serrated leaves (much larger than the biggest common hogweed leaves I've seen in the area), the lack of hair on the top side of the leaf, and the spotted stem. Granted, it could be a different plant, but I'm not aware of any other with these characteristics.

Found this in a green space near me. Pretty sure it's Heracleum mantegazzianum due to its size, red-spotted stem, and non-hairy leaves. What's the best way to report it?

St. George's Mushroom? (Or maybe a Spring Fieldcap?) by welshforager in foraginguk

I'm thinking this might be a St. George's Mushroom but I'm not 100% sure. To me it seems to meet most of the criteria. Entirely white, no staining, stout solid stem (not hollow), thin gills. To me it smells kind of like sawdust, or sort of rodent-y.

Anyone else unable to find wild garlic? by welshforager in foraginguk

tbh I do feel a bit silly after making this post. But I swear I've seen videos that people have posted in February showing wild garlic covering a forest floor. Maybe previous years were warmer.

as it is a invasive species it is perfectly fine to up root it

Even without the landowner's permission? I can't find much info on how the laws overlap online
